Not sure it’s catch up as all players have individual programs. The extra running might well be part of future midfield minutes- part of the plan :shh

Remember he did his hamstring in rd 24 or whatever it was so was probably 3 or 4 weeks behind
True. That was his second hammy for the year.

Anyway, I'm only passing on what I've been told. 'Spy' says Maurice didn't return to preseason training in the shape he promised he would. So, for whatever reason, it's now catch-up time and he's doing mostly running.

Track watch: Scouting report from Tigers training

Josh Gibcus was joined for a short time away from the main group by draftees Kane McAuliffe and Liam Fawcett, who both flew in from South Australia on Thursday night.

Marlion Pickett again joined the young Tigers on track, alongside star defender Nick Vlastuin and Jack Ross jogged some laps.

Superstar Dustin Martin was not at training but has been a regular in the past two weeks despite not being officially required back until Monday.

Midfielder Thomson Dow’s work through a ball movement drill was described as “awesome” by new coach Adem Yze, while Hugo Ralphsmith and Judson Clarke moved well.

Clarke left the track early after a collision feeling for his left shoulder but was able to put his arm above his head and while sore, appeared to be fine.

He missed the end of last season with a cracked scapula.

Sam Banks also limped off the track with a lower right leg injury.

Maurice Rioli moved strongly on track and powered through some laps, while Tyler Sonsie has had a bright start to the pre-season.

Big man Mate Colina, who had his 2023 wiped out by a back injury, moved well and showed the athleticism that saw him finish high in the club’s 2km time trial despite standing at 211cm tall.

A set shot at goal showed Colina still has some rough edges to iron out.

2km time trial top 3:

1st. Taranto
2nd. Graham
3rd. McIntosh

It looked from the vid WP posted that Baker may have come fourth.

So as you’d expect really. I’d bet broady rounded out the top5.

Amazing that when we are drafting high aerobic capacity players that none of them can get in the top 3

Don't think any draftee is going to be top 5

Who exactly did we draft recently mainly for their aerobic capacity though? Either way it's highly unlikely they're going to beat blokes who've been playing AFL for the best part of a decade unless they're some kind of freaks.......:shh

Highly unlikely as they won't have the same endurance base behind them as the older guys do. In all honesty i'd be concerned if draftees topped the time trials.
