Where is Batchelor, must have him up there, plays tall does our new CHB. Would already be in front of the others without even playing there yet... :snidegrin

This is about the best CHB not the best swingman.
It's not Rance's fault that he is surrounded by duds, so why descriminate against him because he is?
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

I see Rance more as a full back than a CHB. I'll go with the Ghost.

Exactly and it makes it easier to stand out, unlike the Ghost who stood out amongst guns....at the end of the day, the Ghost could slot one from the center after drifiting down from CHB if not FB...he had it all going on..Rance at this point is a top FB and a top CHB.  Even SOS the FB of the century got gigs down forward when the time called and perforned...

One could also argue that Jess was never put under the constant pressure that Rance is, our midfield hardly ever got slaughtered when Jess played and he rarely had to clean up everyone else's mess like Rance has to nearly every week....wonder if Jess could ever have managed a BOG in an 88 point thrashing where we only kicked 23 points for the entire game...?....

..and your point about playing forward might be relevant if this was a "best swingman" poll....but it's not, so it isn't....

A CHB that can play  CHF is a CHB that can play CHF in my book.  When Rance can win games for us when called on to do so, instead of saving us from losing by 345 points instead we lose by 88 then we can talk who is better.

This is about the best CHB. Not the best CHB who can play CHF. Bloody obvious if you ask me. It only becomes relevant if they are judged equal as CHBs. Then the guy who can swing forward gets the edge. :whistle

Seeing as you seem to be incessantly anal, we can take it to the next level and suggest that Rance is a FB and gets swung to CHB when needed so he aint part of it too.  :banghead

Classically the FB took most of or at least some of the kick ins. Rance rarely does that and since there is no real set position anymore when you look at players lining up, he is more a CHB. Try again sunshine!

Do any FB's in the AFL take kick ins anymore?, does that make them all CHB's?

Yes, a few still do although not all the time. Maybe 10 to 15% of the time.. Rance almost never kicks it in.
