Former Adelaide captain Chris McDermott gazes into his crystal ball and predicts the ladder at the end of the season. Richmond fans, look away now.

1. Geelong - 18 wins
2. GWS Giants - 17 Wins
3. Sydney - 16 wins
4. Western Bulldogs - 14 wins
5. Hawthorn - 14 wins
6. Adelaide - 13 wins
7. Melbourne - 13 wins
8. Port Adelaide - 13 wins
--------------------------------
9. St Kilda - 11 wins
10. Collingwood - 10 wins
11. Gold Coast - 9 wins
12. Fremantle - 9 wins
13. Essendon - 9 wins
14. North Melbourne - 9 wins
15. West Coast - 8 wins
16. Brisbane - 4 wins

17. Richmond - 4 wins

Football is just unfair at times but they do say if it doesnt kill you it will make you stronger.

That is the hope for Damien Hardwick because it looks a tough year ahead for the Tigers no matter how you look at it.

Changes have been made on and off the field but what’s come into the club is balanced by what has left.

Dion Prestia, Toby Nankervis and Josh Caddy are handy inclusions, but Brett Deledio and Ty Vickery are big outs.

It may be left to the Tigers first draft pick in Shai Bolton to be the excitement machine at Tigerland.

Alex Rance will hold down defence and Jack Riewoldt is again the go to in attack but connecting the two stars will not be easy.

11 games at the MCG and four at Etihad looks great but it may simply be a familiar ground to get beaten on in 2017.

It will not be the year of the Tiger.

18. Carlton - 3 wins

For starters he is missing 4 games.

Anyone doing a season prediction should get that right at the very least.

I can't see them doing that when after Danger and J. Selwood, it all drops off pretty quickly. A bunch of good ordinary players.
