Richmond small forward Dan Butler will make his senior debut against Carlton at the MCG on Thursday night.

Butler, 20, was informed of the news at the Tigers' open training session at Punt Road Oval on Sunday morning.

Richmond selected the North Ballarat product with its fourth-round selection, No. 67 overall, in the 2014 AFL National Draft.

His AFL call-up comes after three strong performances in the JLT Community Series competition.

I really hope he does well which will hopefully make it easier on the match committee to trust in our young talent over our "has beens"

If we want to beat the top teams we need more than just a better game plan. We need different personal. The quicker the coaches realise this the better.

To think he was nearly de-listed at seasons end, well that was the word going around anyway.
I hope he can perform consistently and really become a regular, exciting to watch.

Don't be surprised if Butler is the only player from " FJ's Superdraft"  that actually ends up staying on our list.... :shh

Connor Menadue
Corey Ellis
Nathan Drummond
Dan Butler
Reece McKenzie

Yep that draft ain't setting the world on fire. Man every time Haxxon has gone to the draft he's stuffed it.

Corey Ellis > Butler but let's wait and see.

How good was Butlers little toe poke in the last quarter. Was a beauty that not many have acknowledged.

Ellis is about half as fast though. Room for both at this stage IMO.
