De Goey suspended after lying about hand inury.
Ben Guthrie and Peter Ryan  March 21, 2017 2:15 PM

COLLINGWOOD has suspended midfielder Jordan De Goey for three matches and fined him $5000 after the midfielder lied to the club about how he broke his hand.

De Goey is expected to miss up to a month of football with the injury and the suspension will begin only after he has recovered.

Think its pretty pathetic to give him 3 match's when he's already going to be out for up to a month. Would have thrown the book at him if it was me, maybe half the season. Clubs's should take exception to people having issues/troubles in their lives, but not to lying to them.

Contrast with Hawthorns heavy ban against Hodge for missing a session.

I think the 3 match ban takes effect once he's fully healed but nevertheless given the clubs history with players lying, probably couldve gone harder especially given the club publicly backed in his story on monday with the media when they smelt a rat and kept asking the question

What a load of crap.

That's the same Hawthorn that didn't suspend him for drink driving in September 2015 when it mattered.

Instead they make an example of him and he misses round one. WHO CARES.

They had the chance to inflict a heavy ban when he was on the sauce and didn't.

What's worse, drink driving or missing a training session. Spare me.

Have to confess I was out of the country when that (Hodge '15) occurred so it didn't spring to mind. But didn't the club give the old "its a private issue, nothing to do with us" excuse? Which is separate from missing a training session (which is work).

If Hodge was drink driving in March he would have been suspended and the happy team at Hawthorn would have taken the high road.

When it's September it doesn't suit them. Simple as that.

At a nightclub.  Probably a fight but they don't say. Says a bit about Collingwood recruiting idiots, dumb ones at that.

One thing to note it seems an awful lot of players lie to the club's because if you don't and you live a normal 20 year old life then your off the team.
Who was Dusty's mate we got rid of. Just seems like they are under a lot of pressure to be model athletes and some of them lie when they slip up
