Cotch was interviewed on Ch 9 earlier today:

------------------------------------------------

Cotchin, meanwhile, said the synergy between Richmond’s three tiers of players appears as strong as at any stage of his career.

As the Tigers chase a fourth successive win on Sunday against Brisbane Lions at the Gabba — potentially to start a season 4-0 for the first time since 1995 — Cotchin said the challenge was to maintain that consistency and intensity.

Asked if this mix of youngsters, mid-20s and veterans was something he hadn’t encountered before in his 10 seasons at Richmond, Cotchin said: “It’s hard to say without sitting down and thinking it through but, based on performance, I suppose so at this stage.

“I’ve been a part of teams that have won three in a row and we had some good strengths in those groups. This group is doing a good job, but the reality is we have to come and perform again next week to back it up.

“You have to be at your best on a consistent basis. We spoke about it a lot last year and we weren’t. This year we have been pretty good so far.”

Cotchin continued his great start to the season with 34 disposals in the 11-point win against the Eagles.

“There is nothing better than winning,” he said. “Footy clubs are great things to be a part of, especially when you are winning. The challenge for us is to keep it up.

“There will be a time when we are challenged and how quickly it will be that we can get back to that reinvigoration and energy, and come back out and fight through it.”

Richmond’s improvement has come off the back of a number of things, according to Cotchin, but he said the players had embraced them all to this stage of the season.
