How are you handling things ATM?
« on: April 14, 2017, 07:27:57 AM »
I was talking to a mate about the Tigers - a mate to whom
I've seen as an especially pragmatic Tiger - and he was incredibly upbeat. Not talking Flags but quoting all the usual positive stats the media quote to suck in the Tiger faithful. When I asked if that he was enjoying the ride for his general mental health, he paused and said "Probably" before going on to say he'd worry about the downside if or when it happened.
He's basically enjoying the way we are playing and that the results are above expectations so it's a bonus.
Which got me thinking, how are you all coping?

"I'm loving the new game plan, the wins are an unexpected bonus so let's enjoy the ride while it lasts"
"I'm loving the new game plan, results are good but I'm expecting a fall and so can't fully enjoy it"
"I'm wallowing the filth of my own misery and cannot see past that in order to enjoy a glimmer of hope that I might be wr..wr..wr"
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

I am enjoying this but not building up my hopes. I've seen too many false dawns. I somehow see Sunday as future evidence of this. Hope i am wrong.

Been Awesome so far - Last year was just depressing watching the poo they dished up.
Kinda waiting for Dimma to hit the lets save our start to the season mode.
Like get a couple of goals up on Brisbane or Melbourne and revert to last years poo.

Next couple of weeks are crucial with a tough run coming up, need to keep being positive and taking it on. If we can go 5-0 going to be a massive psychological boast and the worlds our oyster (Not talking flags!) YET  :shh

Enjoying the moment and trying not to get carried away in the likely chance implosion. Like how they're playing though and if they go down playing like that I don't think I'll be left feeling empty like last year.

I feel cheated.

Remember when we beat Collingwood two seasons ago and our second and third 1/4's we played in a similar way to how we are playing this year and we won after being 4 or 5 goals down.

Hardwick came out and said that this is not how we want to play going forward.

We have been capable of playing this football for two seasons but Hardwick decided that his go slow and chip it backwards style was the way to go.

Hardwick owes the tiger fans big time for his atrocious decision.

Im enjoying the moment immensely.  Copped a lot of sh*+ over the years from opposition supporters - now my phone and stuff are mysteriously quiet.

Richmond is still not getting much recognition over here , apparently Carlton and Collingwood are beyond incompetent and West Coast played their worse game in a decade .

Loving the new defensive pressure,  quick ball movement,  longer kicking and run and carry.

Dusty is now elite . Probably second to Dangerfield now. I love Daniel Rioli - he's good now but imagine him in another couple of seasons - Bruce Mcavaney will be in ruptures.

So good to see the captain playing decent football again too . He's been brilliant.

Conca has been like a " new recruit" as well.  What a bonus that is .

I'm enjoying our games so far, I can see some massive improvement in many players & our overall fitness.  I'm very pleased with the '3 amigos' in the forward half & the effect they are having on our whole side.
I also keep in mind that we haven't played much yet, the Weagles were our only notable opponent so far, but I also feel that the competition is changing this year.  Lets hope we are good enough to take our chances!
On a cynical note on the whole competition - you know there is a great draft pool coming up when both Whoreforn & the Swines are in the bottom half!

Just watch Whoreforn trade a few to generate some picks ... Cyril, Spewupolo & Breust have all been talked about already.

For the first time that i can recall I went through a trade/draft period and preseason without getting excited one iota, I think I said as much in another thread. But the way we've been playing, led by our youngsters up front, has got me enjoying going to the footy again.

Do i now expect much this season? nope,  but weve put ourselves in a good position to at least have a crack - its a long season and our sparks are very young so the inevitable fall will come at some stage, Im just happy to enjoy the footy again

How can we get too excited when we have a moron as our coach?

.......If we beat Geelong the excitement might just start bubbling. We'll see.

The club that keeps giving.

Yep

If who is coach means you won't sit back and enjoy watching the kids, the new game style, improved tackling and overall improved attitude and belief then you might as well stay home.

Personally, I still have no real expectations but I am enjoying what I am seeing.

I'm enjoying how we are playing and how there's been no dropping of heads. Just so much more positive.

Keep doing those things and results will take care of themselves

It's fun to go to the footy again,
