Our depth
« on: February 11, 2006, 03:33:37 AM »
Just following on from CB's best 22 thread, our depth while still a fair way off the top sides appears to be much improved this year.

It's probably the first time in a long while that I'm tossing up between who to include and leave out of a best 22 such as Foley and Thursfield. And also you can realistically leave out usual suspects like Tivs and Chaffs who have been regulars in our best 22 for the last 6 years.

Your guys thoughts?

agree totally, our depth is exillerating as its been awhile since we've actually been able to experience this phenomenon.

BUT

much of our depth is POTENTIAL depth and not ACTUAL depth.

its all abit pie in the sky at the mo although, a very promising pie i might add  ;D

Them's beautiful words, blx  :bow
Only a couple of years ago it would have " much of our depth is DEADMEAT depth and not ACTUAL depth lol
Our borderline players a couple of years ago were ones that had been tried and tested in the league at various clubs and we knew their capabilities and their full potential.  And no matter how good they were goign to become, were always going to be borderline players, ie Houlahans, Nicholls, the list is endless.
So even if some of the boys don't live up to our expectations, at least there is hope and potential there that they will eventually come good.  They have a better chance under the tutillage of a Wallace than a Frawley, so here's hoping.
As long as we get consistency from the leaders - Johnson, Richo, Bowden, etc - because last year in a couple of games it was the kids showing the way.  Anyways it all sounds like a future to be looking forward to rather than wait hoping the year will end quick where we can turnover another third of our list like we did there for a couple of years.  Hopefully all these kids will develop   :thumbsup

Chaffey played 17 games last season. Tivendale 19.

As much as we'd like to see them not in the side the kids are going to have to do alot of displace them.

True about the kids although they are a year older but we didn't have Rodan or Pat Bowden either last year who Chaffey and Tivs will have to compete with this year for a spot in our best 22. Add to that D-Rod and Paddy have so far had  uninterrupted pre-seasons whereas Tivs and Chaffs haven't.

Both Chaff and Tiva can be easily be replaced by budding youngsters such as Tambo, Meyer and Rainesy

Agree bluey about Tambo but Meyer and Rainesy still need to show 4 quarter efforts even if they are more talented.
