My thoughts exactly. Thought AFLW was supposed to be a professional competition.
Have never seen the men represented this way.

IMV a ridiculous statement

You clearly have forgotten some of the horrible team photo shots over the years of the men when they are asked to be "silly"

Most vivid one in my memory was when we had "Matrix Men" as a sponsor...so of the comments on this forum at the time were pathetic

Ditto "décor"

And you can throw in a couple of GF snaps as well

Me thinks Dont Argue may have forgotten to add the sarcasm emoji !

Apologies

Gun Tiger forward trio want to bring the "mayhem" in 2020

By Nic Negrepontis

Richmond is looking to hit the ground running when the club officially enters the AFLW competition in Round 1 against Carlton.

The Tigers went after big-name forwards when building their list, successfully recruiting Western Bulldogs captain Katie Brennan, Brisbane star Sabrina Frederick and underrated Giant Christina Bernardi.

How the three of them coexist in the one forward line will be one of the storylines of the season, but Frederick said they have quickly gelled as a unit.

“We’ve brought in some big names and some talented people,” she told SEN Mornings.

“In terms of the forward line, one thing I will say is we’re selfless people and we’ve been working really well together just because we don’t really care who is kicking the goals as long as we work together and I think that works for us.

“Hopefully we can take that into the games and cause some mayhem down there in the forward line.”

The Tigers will be hoping their firepower can make up for a lack of experience through the midfield and in defence.

Frederick, Brennan and Bernardi have combined for 48 goals across the three AFLW seasons, the second most of any current trio at any club, behind reigning champs Adelaide.

Was a good night, Peggy Oneal showed some footage of previous women footy from early 1900's , including a Richmond team playing in 1933

Your AFLW team's biggest strength and weakness

By Nic Negrepontis
SEN

RICHMOND

Strength: Forward line firepower

The Tigers recruited three high profile forwards in Katie Brennan, Sabrina Frederick and Christina Bernardi so it goes without saying that their strength is inside 50.

No team has put together a trio of forwards who are more dangerous and if they can work out their structures and gel early on, they will provide a serious headache.

Brennan in particular is yet to show her best football, consistently dealing with injury issues.

Weakness: How the rest comes together

Monique Conti is an outstanding player to lead a midfield, but the Tigers don’t have much experience around her.

Their midfield and backline lacks AFLW experience and may take time to adjust to the standard, which could make it difficult to feed their three star forwards.

They may have to move Brennan or Frederick into a more midfield-based role to help provide some star power through there.

AFLW: Squad named for Eagles practice match

Richmond’s AFLW side will be tested against a fellow expansion club on Sunday afternoon when it hosts West Coast in an official practice match.

With just two weeks until the season opener against Carlton, the clash at the Swinburne Centre will be the Tigers' final competitive hit-out before Round 1.

A 23-strong squad has been named for the game, including all four members of Richmond's recently-named leadership group in Katie Brennan, Christina Bernardi, Phoebe Monahan and Lauren Tesoriero.

The outing will mark Tesoriero’s highly anticipated return from an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained last June.

Richmond’s first ever draft selection, Sophie Molan, will run out in the Yellow and Black alongside fellow draftees Laura McClelland, Ella Wood, Sarah Sansonetti, Holly Whitford, Emma Horne and Ciara Fitzgerald.

The Tigers will look to build on the experience they gained in last Saturday’s match simulation session against the Western Bulldogs.

Tiger fans can follow live updates from the Swinburne Centre via the Richmond Women's Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Have to say one of biggest issue the AFLW faces is the standard of umpiring.

It drags and slows the game down when they are constantly missing free kicks. It creates packs and rolling mauls. This isn't rugby  :thumbsdown
