In: Butler, Lennon, Chol(elevated)

Out: Castagna, Lloyd, Elton

Where is Hampson at? He's on holidays with him family every 2nd week. Surely Hamma as a decoy 2nd tall or even Maric is better than the experiments of Elton, Soldo and Chol..

yeah...nah....

I've been "pro"  Elton this year early, as I thought he really gave us a target in the middle 3rd of the ground but last night I thought he looked tired or disinterested.
I doubt Chol is the answer right now but we cannot keep having games where we have players that barely touch the footy.

I'd like to potentially see Astbury go forward for a few weeks to play CHF as his marking at the moment has really improved and I think he could give us that second target up there.
And I'd bring in Garthwaite to play that 3rd tall defender. Between him and McIntosh they could handle that roll.
And hopefully Vlastuin comes back soon too.
So a backline of

Garthwaite  Rance  Vlastuin
McIntosh  Grimes  Short

I'm also looking forward to seeing Bulter come back in as I think he brings something different to Rioli and George in our forwardline.
There is no reason why we cannot rotate our small forwards (Rioli,George, Bolton, Butler and even Stengle) in and out of the side on form. We need to create a healthy competition for spots in our side.

I would also like to see Jack start from the goal square. He played on an inexperienced player last night and should have been isolated with him deep.
Imo we should always start someone from the goal square whether it be Jack, Dusty, Cotch or Caddy. If we get a quick clearance we have basically our best "one on one" players one out 10 meters from goal. I really don't get having all our forwards standing within 20 metres of each other after a goal or at the start of quarters.

The Tigers have an extra day to prepare than North Melbourne when they clash at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night. Whether Dan Butler (groin) or Nick Vlastuin (shoulder) are available will depend on fitness tests later this week.

I wonder if butler will have some of that zip back after a rest. Vlastuin could be a big in too

The Barometer - Round 11
Herald-Sun
29 May 2017

RICHMOND

ON THE BLOCK:
No injuries to report from Saturday night and it’s hard to see any changes to a winning line-up. Todd Elton had just five disposals but kicked his first goal of the season and Jason Castagna is looking a bit tired.

ON THE CUSP: Anthony Miles had 35 disposals, Ben Lennon kicked three goals against a close-checking Marty Gleeson and Jake Batchelor won the award for best on ground in a strong VFL win. But the highlight was an amazing goal from the boundary by Mabior Chol — could Damien Hardwick gamble on him as Jack Riewoldt’s sidekick?

AL PATON’S FORECAST: Despite dominating the territory battle it looked like the Tigers would find another way to lose thanks to a series of misses including Riewoldt shanking two set shots from inside 25m. But in the end he, skipper Trent Cotchin and Toby Nankervis stood up when it mattered to deliver a vital win. Next up is the Roos, a team Damien Hardwick has beaten only twice in 10 attempts. Going into its bye at 7-4 would be massive

would like to see a fwd set up like this.

Rioli - Riewoldt - Edwards/castagna.

Chol - Elton - Butler.

Cant see any reason why we cannot play three tall fwds and put the small quicks at their feet.besides Jack is a good mover and Chol is quick and agile.

The fwd set up has to change in fact id say the overall structure needs to change.
We had 71 entries to 42 yet we kicked just 11 goals  to 10.  Bombing it in to a fwd line full of smalls is dumb and fair dinkum it is not working.
People may disagree but playing 10 smalls most weeks is not the way fwd.the smalls output as a collective is poor most weeks. trouble is the output of others is poor as well.

In the mix: Who's pushing for selection in round 11?

RICHMOND

Half-forward Ben Lennon has booted three goals in each of his past two games and was strongly considered for the Dreamtime clash. If the Tigers make changes for Saturday's match against North Melbourne, it is likely to be in attack, where Lennon can bring an aerial presence that has been lacking in recent weeks.

Small forward Dan Butler is also in line to return after missing two matches with groin soreness.

Jason Castagna (three goals in five games) could be due for a rest, with Sam Lloyd (one goal against the Bombers) the other forward vulnerable at selection.

Midfielder Anthony Miles racked up 35 possessions in the VFL but will find it hard to break in, while defender Jake Batchelor was named best on ground in the Tigers' state league win.

I still maintain that if dumbfuck players stop missing the goals they should be kicking ie from 15-30 directly in front we'd be 5-6 goals a week better off and we wouldnt be talking about this. Its not as if the misses are low percentage shots from the boundary or blind snaps out of packs, they are legitimate easy set shots directly in front that should be goals 9 times out of 10. Give me this style of play over our previous style of hugging the boundary and kicking to the pockets every day of the week. There is nothing wrong with our entries, its the easy misses that are killing us.

Disagree
Dogs did the same in last years GF
Our game plan is based on squeezing the play and to keep it inside F50 until we get a goal
Just a 10% improvement in set shots will rectify a lot
