TIGERS PLAYING FINALS FOOTY: ROOSBy Nick Smart
Herald-Sun
29 May 2017PREMIERSHIP coach Paul Roos says Richmond is playing finals-like football, with a “significant” brand that will stand up in September.
The Tigers broke a four-game losing streak with a 15-point win against Essendon at the MCG on Saturday night.
Richmond has made the finals in three of the past four years but fallen at the first hurdle on each occasion.
Roos said there was plenty to suggest that could change.
“This is not the old Tigers; every time they lose a game, people say it is the same old Tigers,” Roos told Triple M.
“This is a different Tigers team. I see a very, very competitive Tigers team week in and week out.
“I see a team that plays finals football; they win the territory battle, get re-entries into the forward 50 and they have some really good crumbing forwards.
“They have a very significant brand at the moment and I see some real positivity the last three weeks.
“They’ve lost some close games, but they’re in the games and they’re still young.
“They probably lack one key marking forward to help Jack Riewoldt, but overall I’ve loved their season so far.”
