the footy gods smile again they lose three key players this type of thing has happened all yr.
Keep saying it i want us to play all teams at full strength  then you know exactly where your at and there are no excuses.

If we play our first final and the opposition is missing key players and that falls to our advantage and we win.
Then i dont give a stuff really
We both know the list has deficiencies but thats not gping to change with halfstep.

This is the match that will define Richmond. We won 5 in a row and for brought down by the crows. Had a good win against port and made to look ordinary against Saints. Overcome the mental hurdles of being favourites against a top 4 season with the world hoping we will fail so they can rip on us come Monday and we are finals ready

We've been beaten up for 34 years by a side traditionally regarded as "handbaggers" - an absolute disgrace and embarrassment.....our ultimate "line in the sand" match....instruct all our expendable players to go the knuckle....maybe even bring in Townsend...... :shh

Match preview: Geelong v Richmond

afl.com.au
9 August 2017

SUMMARY

There's been carnage at the Cattery over the past week, the type that's created ripples that could ascend into waves as the team's charge to September hits multiple speedbumps. They've lost Joel Selwood to an ankle injury that will at the very least cost him the remaining three games; the captain hopes he'll replicate the 2016 feats of Tom Liberatore and recover from surgery in time for finals, but he's up against it. Tom Hawkins and Mitch Duncan are out suspended after undisciplined acts in the loss to the Sydney Swans – Hawkins for this match and the next – but Patrick Dangerfield will return in one positive for the team. The Tigers are flying, having won six of their last seven games, and are third on the ladder. Their defence is ranked No.1 in the competition, and they look set to finish at least in the top four - and possibly in the top two - with Jack Riewoldt hoping to return from a sickening eye injury after two games out.

WHERE AND WHEN: Simonds Stadium, Saturday, August 12, 2.10pm AEST

LAST FIVE MEETINGS
R21, 2016, Geelong 10.22 (82) d Richmond 12.6 (78) at the MCG
R5, 2015, Geelong 12.13 (85) d Richmond 11.10 (76) at the MCG
R7, 2014, Geelong 11.15 (81) d Richmond 12.4 (76) at the MCG
R6, 2013, Geelong 20.11 (131) d Richmond 13.9 (87) at the MCG
R4, 2012, Geelong 11.9 (75) d Richmond 9.11 (65) at Simonds Stadium

THE SIX POINTS

1. The Tigers might be ranked first for defence, but the Cats are second for scoring. However, Hawkins – who won't play - is their top goal-scorer with Dangerfield second, and the Brownlow medalist will need to log more midfield minutes with Selwood and Duncan out.

2. Without much else to hang their hats on at the moment, the Cats could look to their previous record against the Tigers for positivity. They've won the last 12 head-to-heads, and the Tigers haven't won in Geelong since 2006.

3. It will be unfamiliar territory for the Selwood-less Cats. Since his debut in 2007, Selwood has played 246 of a possible 261 games. He's missed just two since the start of 2013.

4. Dustin Martin had 36 disposals when the teams last met and was one of the Tigers' best. The spotlight will remain on him for the final three rounds with Dangerfield and now Zach Merrett ineligible for the Brownlow medal.

5. Both sides have been strong marking the ball inside 50 this season. The Tigers are ranked second averaging 14.2, ahead of the Cats who are equal third with an average of 12.9.

6. With Dangerfield back, it will be a battle of the League's top two performers in the Official AFL Player Ratings, brought to you by Schick. Dangerfield is No.1 with 744.9 points and Martin No.2 with 613.2.

IT’S A BIG WEEK FOR…
Chris Scott.
Holes up forward, holes in the midfield, holes in a leadership sense and coming off a loss, we'll see just what the Cats – and their coach, who has also battled the flu this week – are made of on Saturday.

PREDICTION: Richmond by 25 points.

Contracts and poor form sent Tigers down the highway: AFL (SEN)

Ticketmaster site is saying no more tickets on sale.

And the excuse for us playing down there according to the AFL is our poor form in 2016 and "contractual obligations"  ::).

Contracts and poor form sent Tigers down the highway

SEN
8 August 2017

Richmond’s poor form in 2016 led its top-four blockbuster clash with Geelong being scheduled at Simonds Stadium rather than the MCG, according to Andrew Dillon.

Tiger members have been frustrated by their inability to get a ticket to see the highly-anticipated contest on Saturday afternoon with Simonds Stadium’s capacity of just 34,000 well short of Richmond’s average attendance of 46,799.

The AFL’s interim football operations boss told SEN Breakfast that contractual obligations – and Richmond’s substandard form last year – finished resulted in the game being scheduled at the Cattery.

"When we're putting the fixture together, there's a whole heap of different factors that we have to take into account," Dillon said.

"One of the first things we take into account is what are the contractual obligations we have with venues and down at Geelong we have to play, under the contract we've got, eight home games there.

"Just by the Victorian opponents Geelong have had this year, it's fallen that Richmond, which would normally be a game at the 'G, had to be one of the games they played at Skilled Stadium because they also had games against some of the larger Victorian clubs that they've played at the MCG.

"And that was probably taking into account Richmond's performance last year, which obviously when you look in a lens now with Richmond in the top four, you probably wouldn't have fixtured it there but when the fixture was done in October last year, that was the call that was made."

..but apparently not taking into account Essendon & Carlton's performances who both finished several places lower and who we outdrew....and whilst the former might've had high expectations for this year, the latter certainly wouldn't have...utter bollocks guv'nor...

The Xavier cronies at the AFL have disrespected our club for too long.  About time their poo decisions and favourite playing is exposed

Cotchin said the fact Geelong were missing personnel - led by opposing captain Joel Selwood - wouldn't make the task any easier.

"It was season-defining for Hawthorn. We knew they were going to come," he said.

"But we brought consistency of effort and intensity to the contest. Our guys were really good.

"This Saturday is going to be massive.

"Selwood out doesn't change the equation ... they've got plenty of talent, whether it's forwards, backs or mids. We need to be at our best.

"Geelong will suggest they were disappointing on Friday night against a revved-up Swans.

"On their home deck they're always bloody hard to beat and we're looking forward to the challenge."

Feel like this game will be decided by a goal or less...

Have to say though we owe them a right royal flogging for all the years of being bunnies

Just hope all this media hype didn't get to our heads cause when it does we get ahead of ourselves and crumble and be mentally weake. We  a need good even spread against cats and need to shut them out in the first qtr especially ,they will likely come out firing.
