A goal a piece early on. Fletcher equalised for us after intercepting a Essendon defender's bad kick.

Townsend just won the worst kick of the year under no pressure award  .

Essendon player reported for bumped Batch in the head while he was bending over to pick up the ball. Batch stayed down on the ground for a bit.

The intensity is good but this is one of the poorest foot-skilled games of footy (by both sides).

Apparently there's a cross breeze that is slightly favouring the end we are kicking to in the first quarter.

Point to us to take the lead.

Kruse long inside 50 and Garthwaite takes a good overhead mark 30m out. Good straight kick gets his first goal for the VFL Tiges  .

Garthwaite playing forward today out of necessity with our top 3 VFL goalkickers missing.
