It was a win, but 31 points over a team that got zilch from Beams, Rockliff and Zorko isn't something i'd be happy with.

Or we did really well at shutting them out?

Yep - happy to just get enough wins to sneak in the eight....thanks for proving my point....who cares for lofty ambitions like playing ruthless flag winning football, may mediocrity reign while you two pat each other on the back over our latest finals comedy relief cameo at the next cocktail night or Club 80 function.... :clapping

Only just saw this, not sure how saying i didn't think we'd "smash" the opposition is accepting mediocrity. Just stating where we are as a team right now

Did i say i was happy with the final margin? Nope

Facts are right now we are playing crap footy so based on that I simply dont see us smashing anyone any time soon.

So banking wins is what we need to do to make finals,  that's what I expect to see FINALS

I expect us to make finals and I expect us to win at least one...dont do that then they have failed miserably, no ifs buts or maybes

Clear enough

....is what the kind of supporter content with our continued mediocrity would say... :shh :shh
No need to get personal. I would have loved to smash them. However, considering our record at Etihad and them winning there against Essendon in their last visit to the venue, anyone would have been relieved we walked away with the 4 points. Not happy, just relieved. There is a difference you know....

With you 100% YBB, never thought we'd "smash 'em" just wanted the 4 points

At the moment that's all that matters banking the wins to get to the magic number 13

Still not convinced we'll get them but we are just 3 away, which I'll take at this point

Stop assuming you know what I am thinking. You could not be further from the truth. These sort of comments are the types that infuriate posters on this site. Stick to your own opinions on football and not the opinions you have about other posters, which are so wrong, that it makes you look like an idiot.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

I don't assume that you think, let alone what you think....but you certainly do try hard... :clapping

Yes you did. You assumed that we were "happy to just get enough wins to sneak in the eight", or at least you alluded to that. Where was that ever stated? Come on. Put up or shut up.

I reckon most of the people complaining of our mediocrity would have predicted far less than that before the season started.

Martin and Cotchin were shut out against the Saints and we were 82 points down at half time  :help

Indeed, that does sum up sum up much of your thoughts....in the words of another poster.....#insaneprojection

I reckon most of the people complaining of our mediocrity would have predicted far less than that before the season started.

So 5 months and 16 matches later we should keep our expectations at the same level?

So what was the point of bringing up what you think people would have predicted five months ago then? How's that relevent to now?

My point is, we are performing better than most people expected at the start of year, me included.

I guess it's about as relevant as someone's attendance at a Club 80 function.

Onya champ...though perhaps overlooking the important difference that it was a throw away line & a gag, not the basis of an argument...regardless of how butt hurt some other moron was from it....

...but I digress - not sure even at the start of the year people would've been happy with a scrappy five goal win at home over an interstate side that were the equal favourites for the wooden spoon....unless people thought we were going to be bottom four and as far as I can recall, only claw thought that....
