Richmond Tigers not getting ahead of themselves says Brayden Short

Jonno Nash and Charlie Happell
ESPN
25 July 2017

Richmond pocket rocket Brayden Short says the Tigers are keeping a lid on the club's meteoric rise into the top four.

And as the Tigers saluted a season-defining victory over one of the league's premiership favourites, Greater Western Sydney, Short says the team is being level-headed ahead of a historic finals series.

"It's a little bit different to where we were last year. The whole club has belief in what we're doing," Short told ESPN.

"We generally don't look beyond next week's game. We don't really consider where we are on the ladder.

"It's on more than just concentrating on the teams we play each week."

The Tigers are yet to win a final since 2001, despite unsuccessful attempts between 2013-2015.

And with a potential percentage-boosting opportunity against Gold Coast this week, the Tigers can tighten its grip on the top four.

"All the boys have fully bought in and it's been pretty good at the club. We're all loving our footy," he said.

"We haven't got ahead of ourselves. Our goal is to play our best footy each week and hopefully that gives us a reward at the end of the year."

“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
