How did we all rate Rioli's 2 kicks and 2 tackles...

And one of those 2 kicks he had, he missed a goal from the goal square.

He laid a brilliant tackle near the goal square and should have been rewarded. Came off injured after that tackle.

Is that the brilliant tackle where he let the St.Kilda player go so he could get a handball away?? I know the holding the ball rule is pretty sketchy at the monument but I'm pretty sure if you get a handball away it's not holding the ball.

I haven't seen the reply so I can't be definitive but from what I saw it was incorrect disposal. It should have been paid.

Interesting thought.
I like his speed and extra height is a bonus but he doesn't get enough of the ball nor does he win the contested ball near enough.
I think Broad has done ok but I worry about his poise going into the finals. Broad is the sort of bloke that will most likely have a Sheridan moment in the finals also broad doesn't have the penetration in his kicks like short does.
That's why I'd drop Broad and bring in short.
Problem with Caddy and Townsend we loose speed but finals is all about winning contested footy and beating your man on the day.
I'd also look at dropping whoever was supposed to have played on Gresham (who didn't look like had an opponent the whole game)

Problem with Short is he's not a great decision maker - not the type you want in a huge final. I watched him yesterday in the magoos and he got a lot of it but just couldn't find the right move often. Some of the vfl players by comparison we're much better (albeit in a thumping win).

Broad wasn't great yesterday but he's a big strong body - can't deny how important they can be in tough matches.

I'd drop Markov for Caddy, that's about it.

It is concerning entering finals with so many different inexperienced players but the way I see it, it's great exposure and will be important for their growth.
Let's set the bar for pressure in this years finals.

It concerns me that unless there is a change we would be going into finals without any backup for Nank. Imagine if he gets injured near the start of a final and we are rucking Grigg or Astbury for the rest of the game. I know Ill probably get belted for this but we need one of Griff, Soldo, Elton to come in as its just too risky not too. I draw the line at them though as Hampton or Maric are just no's for me. I know these options are not ideal but we have what we have and thats it. I certainly would be interested to hear from those that were at the VFL game this week as to which would be the best option.

I think you will find Rioli playing more up the field and through the midfield once his body gets bigger and his tank improves.  At this stage the easily pleased stat noters should be satisfied.

I for one think we are witnessing the birth of a real special player.

I know he won't get dropped as he lives with the coach but take the blinders off for a minute.

He was still twice as good than Castagna on the day. 

But still not good enough.

Good point. It has almost become a rule in the AFL that you must play 2 rucks in September. It is a massive ask of Nankervis, a 32 gamer, to get us through a finals series on his own. However I can't see the club sacrificing any pace or agility for any of those players.
We are going to try and win the finals with our mosquito fleet.
