Wallace's interview at training today (24/2)

Wallace was interviewed by 3aw, afl.com.au and Ch 10 at training today.

* Browny has pulled up well after the Coburg game. He did stay a bit out of heavy traffic which is understandable first up but happy with how he went. The plan is still for him to play round 1 but we'll play Browny in the seniors when he is ready and right to play. We'll gradually build up his gametime - 3/4 of a game next time and so on.

* We plan to play our senior players as often as possible in the upcoming preseason games giving them a rest now and then via a rotation. This will give the younger guys a go. There's about a half a dozen guys we need to get footy into them.

* Paddy definite starter. Wallace mentioned Humm, Howat and White as other possible newbies but that will depend on which certain senior blokes play. Wallace obviously keeping his cards close to his chest in front of the media herd.

* Looking forward to the preseason games as it's the first time he can judge whether and we  have improved and whether blokes we want to move into the centre can step up and handle the pressure in the kitchen. You can't know that from training drills and intra-club games; only in the real stuff.

* Hopes the Dome's roof will be open as it could be a nice night but there may be a thunderstorm coming so we won't know until tomorrow

Tigers fans can expect to see some new faces in the line-up for Saturday's opening round NAB Cup clash against Hawthorn, but Richmond coach Terry Wallace is not yet certain who'll they'll be.

"Probably the ones I'm talking about are (former Eagle, Jeremy) Humm, (rookie Cameron) Howat, and (rookie Matthew) White - they're the three, Wallace told a post-training media conference at Punt Road on Friday.

"We would like to play all three, but there are permutations and combinations.

"Patrick Bowden will certainly play his first game with the footy club but the other boys, it'll just be how the numbers work out whether they number crunch for them or against them."

Wallace said he was excited for David Roden who will be returning to competitive football for the first time since rupturing an anterior cruciate ligament during last year's pre-season.

"It's been a long wait. First-up he'll be a bit nervous and it might take him a little bit to find the footy but I'm sure that he'll acquit himself quite well.

"He hasn't lost anything in regard (to pace), and he's a really powerful player now and we expect him to become a key midfielder for us this year."

Wallace said that after a long and exacting pre-season, he's looking forward to the "real thing".

"It's a long summer when you are just training, training six days a week and the opportunity for the boys just to get out there and apply (sic) their trade is what they're all about.
