I'm calling it first right here.

Essenden will go full tilt with their new recruits busting a valve and we will play a disinterested and sluggish game and the media will talk the druggies up as a flag favourite.

Nah, they'll go hard early and start celebrating like it's a flag. We'll haul em in with some inspired performances from the youngsters pushing for 22 rd 1.

REIGNING Premier Richmond will take on Essendon at Wangaratta in a JLT Community Series match on February 24, 2018.

The club will be keen to get back to Wangaratta as it won both preseason matches it has played in the rural city and in 2013 and 2014 the Tigers had solid years and went on to make the finals, however, lost in an elimination final both years.

The preseason match is bound to attract a sell-out crowd as when the two teams clashed in 2013 at the Norm Minns Oval a capacity 11,000-strong crowd attended.

Competing AFL clubs usually come to Wangaratta at least a day before the event to meet fans, including a training session on the Friday afternoon before the game.

Border North East chief executive officer John O’Donohue said it was a major coup for the region again, saying “we were lucky to get Richmond”.

“The Richmond Football club is aiming for 90,000 members in 2018 and as it’s the first match since winning the premiership there will be extra interest in the game,” Mr O’Donohue said.

important to note that while members get free access to the Wang game there is no guarantee of entry unless you buy a reserved spot for $5.
