He will be a Grundy-like ruckman in a couple of years.

Yep. Told Matt Clarke to play him as a mid at the predraft analysis last year and he thought that was an interesting idea....  :shh

Let’s hope he doesn’t get seduced by a godfather deal by another club
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Balta rucks with no shin-pad.

Hardwick said Balta had pulled up well after playing extended minutes, although the youngster is still missing one piece of critical ruck equipment.

"He's a beast, he's incredibly athletic. I thought he was terrific for a young kid in really his first year of footy, to say, 'listen, you've got 80 per cent of the ruck duties'," Hardwick said.

"I'd actually be happy if he got a shin guard at some stage. He hasn't got one, he seems to think it's a sign of weakness, but we'll let him keep continuing to do what he does."

For such a big unit to be so athletic is awesome.  Injuries aside, it has been great seeing the new guys come through.

It's going to be scary for opposition sides when Balta finds that consistency over 4 quarters. He's freakish and pretty much can play anywhere with is height and athleticism. A 19 year old getting 10 contested possies, 6 marks of which 3 were contested, 3 clearances, 3 tackles, 6 hitouts, 4 inside 50s, 5 running bounces, plus a goal and an assist  :o.

Loved the mark coming in from the side in the 3rd.
Reminded me of Royce.
