Eric Hipwood looked lively and was a big part of the win for Brisbane, so Balta had his colours lowered.

Hipwood looked the most lively I’ve even seen against us.
11 disposals (9 uncontested), 4 score involvements, 1 goal assist, 5 marks 2 contested (2 inside 50)

I blame the midfields (graham excepted)  for the insipid pressure efforts allowing lace out footy at stages.  :banghead

Noah Balta, Richmond, has been charged with Engaging in a Melee during the second quarter of the Qualifying Final between the Brisbane Lions and Richmond, played at the Gabba on Friday October 2.

In summary, he can accept a $500 sanction with an early plea.

A first offence for Engaging in a Melee is a $750 sanction. An early plea enables the player to accept a $500 sanction.

WP, do you think the balance would be better with Broad in and Astbury out?
I agree that something is not “clicking” in our defensive structure with Astbury.

Also Grimes was drawn up field against Brisbane, we need to counter that IMO as he is more effective reading the play further back.

Maybe it is this dynamic that makes Noah less effective?

Only thing I have noticed is that we have lost the dash and run and carry from Markov in the backline which was a real weapon.

Amazing game from Noah. Dixon had no influence on the game. Scary thought for opposition clubs that barring injury Balta has the next decade ahead of him and can play at either end if need be.
