Walking off can be a sign it is an ACL :(.

What a really crap night if true and far more costly going forward than losing the game. Noah won't be back to mid 2022 if he's done an ACL.

Miller time...he can't be any worse than Balta's been for the last month... :help

Dimma post-game:

Tigers fearful gun young defender Noah Balta faces the remainder of the season on the sidelines with a serious knee injury.

The 2020 premiership backman's right knee twisted in a tackle in the third term of the Tigers' dreadful defeat to the Saints on Friday night, with coach Damien Hardwick confirming post-game that the club was fearing the 21-year-old had torn his anterior cruciate ligament.

"I don't like to speculate but it doesn't look great at this stage which is disappointing for the lad, but once we get further details we'll pass that on but it looks disappointing at this stage," Hardwick said.

"It looks that way [like an ACL] but once we have that confirmed we'll pass it on."

Gotta agree he has been poor lately. Reckon we have missed a trick in not getting some games into Miller while Astbury has been injured.

Imo the list management in this area has been poor. A 20 yo Balta holding down a kpd and having the number 1 mantle as a defender
with an aging cooked Astbury and all we have on the list is Nyuon who is very raw and Miller who they just have not seen fit to give a game in three seasons.

These things have been hitting us in the face especially since the Rance retirement.

Come the off season a mature Kpd is a must and somehow we can target a high quality junior kpd in the draft.

Richmond defender Noah Balta is yet to have scans after being subbed out of Friday night's loss to St Kilda.

It appears Balta's knee is better than first thought, but he has suffered a significant ankle syndesmosis injury which will require surgery.

He will have scans on both ankle and knee to confirm clinical findings.

The Club will provide a further update once those findings are confirmed.

Friend of mine just spoke to Noah's Dad.

He'll be out for 6 weeks post surgery.

Obviously things can change depending on his rehab - could be longer etc but this is a great outcome.

Mark Stevens on 7news said Balta has had his surgery today but the club isn't putting a time frame on his return. As a result 7news were saying it could season ending.
