Malcolm Blight blasts Richmond life membership decision (5AA)

I am comfortable with what the club has done, but I also understand where Blight is coming from. His point regarding what has a player done for the club longer term is quite valid.

I am not sure how you would address the two issues.

Maybe the criteria should have been win a premiership and spend 5 years on the list? Difficult to find the right balance.

The only reason this is an issue with blight and others from SA is Jack Graham, they want to steal him down the track and by awarding life membership to Graham creates an even deeper bond with Richmond and this is what there real objection is.

I've got 2 words for Malcolm Blight "Get stuffed".

This was not a decision made in haste after the game.  The decision to make all premiership players Life Members was made and signed off by the Board (and I think members) in early 2017.  It just so happens that 6 months later we have 22 additional premiership players for the club.

This decision was made by RFC for the RFC.  It has nothing to do with Blight, Cornes or whoever chooses to question the decision.  Their clubs can make decisions for their club and we will do the same, thanks.

It certainly was (in December as WP states) and with one reason on their minds, to inspire a premierships win, and it has done exactly that 
So go blow ya horn somewhere else blighty  and I'm pretty sure nobody even asked for your opinion anyway.

I think its a decision made in the emotion of a long-awaited premiership win. However, premiership players are inevitably tied to the club for eternity, with reunions every x number of years etc, so why not formalise that with life membership?
