Restoration of the Jack Dyer Stand bricks

In a nod to Richmond Football Club’s proud history, the restoration of brickwork from the former Jack Dyer Stand into the new Redevelopment has been a key priority.

Off the field, we are also making significant progress with the Punt Road Redevelopment well underway.

Each day, our home is looking different, and this historic build is beginning to take shape. It is such an important part of our future. Thank you to all our donors for your incredible support. This build is a key plank in us establishing our strong and bold future, and we could not do it without you.

The job, however, is not finished yet in terms of financing the build, and we continue to work with the Government, key stakeholders, and our members to ensure this essential infrastructure upgrade is completed in the shortest timeframe possible.

“Not over the line yet”: Richmond facing “funding shortfall” in Punt Road rebuild

The Tigers’ new facilities is expected to be completed midway through 2027.

Richmond is working with all key stakeholders and governments to raise more funds for the Punt Road redevelopment, but is confident it will be completed midway through 2027.

The Tigers opted to take down the long-standing Jack Dyer grandstand due to its instability, while the smaller-sized ground was deemed a disadvantage to the men's and women's programs.

The project had a range of complexities, including heritage considerations, with bricks from the old stand to be used in the new construction.

The $111 million venture will provide state-of-the-art facilities, realign the oval to the dimensions of the MCG, while a new and improved stand that will hold 8,000 fans and underground car spaces will increase accessibility.

The project is being supported by $20 million in funding from the Victorian government, alongside contributions from the federal government, the AFL, and Richmond Football Club itself.

In their annual financial report, Richmond recorded a net profit of $4.74 million for 2025, but this was enhanced by $2.09 million in fundraising for the redevelopment.

The Victorian powerhouse is also seeking donations via the Australian Sports Foundation, and has set a target of $1 million. As of December 22, it is $400,000 away.

Tigers CEO Shane Dunne gave an insight into the steps forward in the project's status.

"This $111 million development is going to keep Richmond in Richmond for a long period of time," Dunne said.

"And our builders, Built Environs, have done a fantastic job of getting the project underway, and they are on track to deliver the project by the middle of 2027.

"But we're not over the line yet. We've still got a funding shortfall that we need to overcome, and we're working with governments, all of our stakeholders and all of our members to see if they can continue to support us to get this project completed in its entirety."

Punt Road Oval has been home to Richmond for over 135 years. This will be the most significant infrastructure upgrade in the Club's history.
