Bump.

It's taken 3 and a bit years but over the past month we've finally been around or over the promised magical 16 goal mark.

v Fremantle    20.17-137
v Bulldogs      20.10-130
v Hawthorn     15.04-94
v St Kilda        16.11-107

30 goals when you play Geelong  ;D

We only achieved 16 goals or more six times last year (won 4 lost 2) and conceded 16 or more goals nine times (1-8). It would still definitely be one of Wallace's key indicators as kicking 16 goals most weeks = finals. We didn't do that last year averaging only about 13 1/2.

We achieved 16 gls or more in 3 games last yr.
Melb 18 16 124
Ess   17 17 119
Coll   18 8 116
All wins
although we kicked 100 points in a game against the Saints Freo and Port last yr we kicked 15 goals and lost all 3. We also kicked 15 8 98 against Carltank in Rd 1 also. We need to establish a winning culture with a fast moving skilled brand of footy with very few skill error s and the high scores then will slowly but surely be racked up.

we need a forward line that can defend & preasure & not let it out so easy after points
We also need a backline who can get the ball out after points quickly by long attacking kicks instead of stuffing around with it
thats where we lose all games & have done for many years but its never corrected

We're averaging right on 16 goals according to Hun:

Bulldogs       19.7
Hawthorn      18.3
Geelong        16.9
Richmond     16.0
Collingwood  15.9
Port Adel.     15.3
Carlton         14.9
Adelaide       14.9
Essendon      14.7
Brisbane       14.1
North Melb.   13.7
St Kilda        13.6
Sydney         12.7
Fremantle     12.4
Melbourne     11.0
West Coast    10.6

Also the top 3 and bottom 3 match the current ladder.

Most pleasing.
If we can keep that up some wins will follow soon enough. 8)

It's taken 4 years but we're finally kicking 16 goals or more in the majority of our games and when we've reached the magical 16 goal mark our record this year is 7 wins plus the dogs' draw and the 3-point loss to the Saints.

2004:  0 - Spud's last year
2005:  6 - Plough's first year
2006:  4
2007:  3
2008:  9*  (from 16 games)

It's our most since 1996 which was also 9 times (but from 22 games). You have to go back to the 80's all out attacking footy to better it.

'88 - 9
'86 - 9
'85 - 11
'82 - 15
'81 - 12
'80 - 14

Yeah that's true but I'm just regurgitating a Wallace 2004 statement when he was first appointed. We've kicked 20 goals or more 4 times this year for 4 wins.

Just on those stats no wonder a lot of people pine for 80's footy. Mind you the quarters back then were 25 minutes plus time on without the clock stopping at stoppages IIRC. Also just further proof the '82 side was one of the best sides never to win a flag.

Yep MT the 72 one was even better than the 82 side. Kicked 22 goals in the Grannie and still lost. :banghead
