16 goals a game
« on: March 08, 2006, 01:27:20 PM »
TW publically declared that was the plan last year.

Is it still the plan?

Or was it just membership advertising?

We only achieved 16 goals or more six times last year (won 4 lost 2) and conceded 16 or more goals nine times (1-8). It would still definitely be one of Wallace's key indicators as kicking 16 goals most weeks = finals. We didn't do that last year averaging only about 13 1/2.

should aim for 20, aim high and dont stop till u get there. 2o is a very tall order, but just missing 20, will get u 16-19, usualla win, aiming for 16, and dropping short will get u 12-15, usually a loss.

Two rounds down and not even close to the 16 goal target. Browny not being 100% and Richo being well held/screwed by gutless umpiring  :scream is hurting our goalscoring ability. We are still getting nowhere near enough goals out of our midfield either.

Is part of Richo's future playing as a loose big man in defence?

Yep!!! I have said that all along!! It's no good having someone playing full forward if they can't kick straight

Only if we aren’t able to get the ball down to the forwards often enough and the ball spends most of the time in the opposition’s forward half. :P

We need to get some other people to become multiple goal kickers.

Obviously Browny is stuggling a little to get back up to speed at the moment.

But we really need to get another couple of players who can kick multiple goals on a regular occasion

Maybe Jackson can become one of those players. Limbach is another but appears a way off still.

Hughes may get a game sooner rather than later and i would think he is a better option than Pattison.

Patto is just far too slow for mine. I would rather play Knobel off the becnh than have Patto running around. Knobel also has great size

That's true TS. We were on the wrong side of the inside 50 count.

Pls god NO!

Richo shouldn't be aloud out of our forward fifty. Do we really want to regularly see him try to take on and beat men in the backline after he has just marked over the top of them? Do we want to see Richo in the open and decide to take a couple of running bounces ala Friday?

We already have two backmen this year who we are seeing struggling with a game requiring quicker legs, thinking and better skills, do we really need one more?

I agree. We should be looking at 9-10 individual goalkickers every game. We had 6 against the Saints. It is quite embarassing that Richo is still often the only option. The Cats had 9 individuals, even though Kingsley kicked 8. The Dogs shared their 20 goals between 12 players.

I agree totally.  I almost close my eyes when I see him back there.  I f he turns it over there is only 5-10 seconds before they score were as the other end you at least get 20 -30 seconds and a chance to get it back.  I sugest a team rule should be no Richo's in the back half of the ground.

Going by our list of goalkickers this year we still don't get enough goals out of our midfielders and we're still heavily reliant on Richo. We also haven't yet cracked the ton this year and have the second lowest "for" tally. On the positive side Pettifer is continuing on from  last year and Paddy, Simmo and Tivs are chipping in up forward.

1. Matthew Richardson     12
2. Kayne Pettifer               7
3. Patrick Bowden             7
4. Troy Simmonds            5
5. Greg Tivendale        4
6. Daniel Jackson              4
7. Chris Hyde               3
8. Greg Stafford                3
9. Shane Tuck                3
10. Andrew Krakouer          2
11. Brett Deledio            2
12. Richard  Tambling     2
13. Kane Johnson           2
14. Nathan Foley            1

15. Nathan Brown            1
