Unleash the Dust tomorrow?
« on: April 28, 2018, 07:55:29 AM »
In the last fortnight we have played Dusty, Cochin and Prestia sparingly with them spending roughly 70-75% on the ground (with a large chunk of Dusty's time up forward v Lions).
With that in mind, I am now wondering if this has been a deliberate strategy to have them unleashed through the midfield and play max minutes tomorrow (Dusty was near 90% r1)?
Buckley isn't a renowned tagger and will most likely back in his key mids vs ours - By comparison, Collingwood's 3 key mids last 2 rounds don't have the same minutes as a %, it's been roughly mid 80's which converts to them playing an extra quarter of playing minutes in the past 2 weeks.
Another angle to look at coaching tactics leading into the game tomorrow
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

I agree HRT, we have been managing and limiting the midfield time of Dusty, Cotch and Prestia. But I think that was more due to knowing this 5-day break was coming up rather than getting ready to unleash them today (as much as that would unreal if we did do that). I still think we'll manage their midfield time today and then return to their 'normal' mdifield/forward time spread when we get back to regular weekly breaks next week and beyond. Sure it's a big game today and we want to win because we hate Collingwood :yep but it's still only round 6 and it's a long season.
