Oh goody, another offseason of the media fawning over Essendon and having them flag favourites once again :sleep.

Mind you hearing Andy Maher's voice crack as the news came through that Shiel wasn't going to Carlton was funny lol.
And then claiming that he's not really a top tier midfielder and Carlton would have given up too much if they got him.
;D

Right on cue, Robbo claiming Essendon now has a "formidable list". Didn't he say the same thing this time last year after they got Stringer, Smith and Saad?   :wallywink

What's interesting is what will this cost the Bombers. They traded their first rounder away last year. If they are forced to trade their first rounder this year plus next year's as some are saying for Shiel then missing out on the high end of the draft for a number of years running is going to hurt them down the line.

I think Collingwood and to a larger extent Carlton and Essendon are under the pump. After what RFC achieved they have fallen behind
in terms of membership and other criteria and they are trying to catch up.

I agree, especially as it relates to Essendon. Carlton are now paupers and largely irrelevant. Collingwood dining out on beating us, which was effectively their flag.

Collingwood defender Tom Langdon’s future hangs in the balance 10 days after he played a starring role in his club’s heartbreaking Grand Final defeat. Langdon, who is out of contract and has had an offer from the Magpies on the table since last Tuesday, was spotted in Sydney today and it is believed he's toured the club’s facilities as he considers a move.

North Melbourne are poised to secure Melbourne midfielder Dom Tyson after the player and the Demons agreed he would explore his options in this trade period. Tyson is understood to have indicated he is interested in a move to Arden Street.

The inside midfielder had also been considering an approach from Gold Coast but it is understood he would prefer to remain in Melbourne.

Tyson could shape as a straight swap for Kangaroos ruckman Braydon Preuss, who has asked to be traded to Melbourne.

Tyson, who is contracted at Melbourne for next year on about $500,000, played 17 games this year but was being squeezed for midfield time at the Demons.

Tom Scully’s future at the Giants remains slightly clouded as he is understood to be open to the idea of moving back to Victoria if it were also to suit the Giants and despite him still being contracted. With Shiel and Robb leaving, the Giants will have less salary-cap pressure and therefore less imperative to trade Scully.

West Coast believe their first two picks - 20 and 22 - are a fair exchange for Tim Kelly but they might have to bundle those picks in a trade to move up the draft order as the Cats endeavour to gain a high selection.

Swan Gary Rohan looks set to join the Cats from Sydney on Wednesday in exchange for a low draft pick.

Gold Coast are in discussions with Hawthorn about a trade for left-foot defender Jack Scrimshaw.

I think we really need him or someone of that I’ll. Think of our midfield with an injury or 2 and we will struggle if the likes of grigg still get regular game time.

Play hardball on Lloyd for pick 25, give them back a late pick.  Then we're done and we can all stop listening to the dribble on trade radio.

Basil Zempilas on Ch 7 News in Perth is claiming Fremantle has missed out on Jesse Hogan and he will remain at Melbourne.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mitch McGovern will get to Carlton tomorrow [Wednesday].

The Swans will swap their first round pick 13 in exchange for both of Carlton's second round picks 26 & 28.

Carlton will then send pick 13 along with their state league rights (for Sturt's Shane McAdam) to Adelaide for McGovern. There may be a third round pick from the Crows going back the other way as well.

The Swans are happy to do this as the draft points from the two second rounders will cover any bids that come for their father-son Nick Blakey. They would've been forced to use their first rounder on him anyway and may have also had to chuck in later picks to cover the points. So this way works better for them.

The only issue for Carlton is how they now obtain Will Setterfield. It possibly depends on the Giants accepting a future second round pick.

Yeah we are all done until we get shown up in clearances again in a cut throat final

We are one mid short going into next year as grigg types are cooked and we had a good run injury wise which may not happen again.

Hypothetically, if you were tasked with putting together a deal that would see Scully end up at the tigers what would be your offer?
