They just lazily listed the leading possession getters as our bests.

Disposals:  329 - 396   ( contested: 154 - 187 )
Clearances:  35 - 48    ( centre: 5 - 15; stoppages: 30 - 33 )
Inside 50s:   49 - 68   ( marks in50: 8 - 8 )
Dimma loves the contested footy stat to explain games and will no doubt use it as the main excuse for the loss tonight in his presser.

Our centre clearance stats have been ordinary this year IIRC but tonight it was off the charts. Not only did we give them easy forward entries straight after a goal so we couldn't generate any scoreboard momentum but we spent most of the night on the back foot trying to attack from our backline. A clear recipe for losing.

Compared to the finals then yes. But this time last year we were just coming off a period of 4 straight losses, most of which where we choked from winnable positions.

As much as a Friday night win sets up your whole weekend a loss can set it back...and it’s a long weekend :banghead

And we just blew a chance to retake top spot while Melbourne can knock us out of the top 2 if they beat the Pies on Monday :banghead.

Not our worst performance for the year, but certainly that lapse in the second cost us the game and we probably played our worst period of the season when the game was on the line.

Not at panic stations, but jeepers it was a disappointing loss.

Plenty to work on.

I don't think we're too "Dusty centric" as some would put it, but Dusty at full flight might have been the difference in a tight scrappy affair.

Not winning the flag this year unless we improve dramatically on that.

"Tigers smacked tonight. Ran over or fumbled 30 ground balls. Got rub of the green with umpires. Amazing they got so close. Port superb. Could have won by much more. Won the contest by 33, clearances by 13"

I'm not sure about that I think even during the year we had better skills and kicking for me going back to a few bad habits maybe carrying a few to many passenggers to.

How many goals after half time did they kick? 2? We would have won without that patch in the second quarter.

It was a mammoth display of 1 goal, entertaining footy at its best and reeks of a coach under the pump
