I think the size of the ground is better suited to Sydney.

They've won 14 of their last 15 at Docklands. Mind you their wins have been against Etihad tenants who are/were non-top 8 sides at the time: Carl x2, Ess x2, North x2, StK x4, Dogs x4 (one loss R2 2107 just post-Dogs premiership)

We're the first MCG tenant to play them at Docklands in 10 years. Thanks AFL!  ::)

The last time we played the Swans there was way back in 2006. Lost by 118 pts in the Wallace era  :-X. It's 2-2 overall.

If that’s the case we should have been at Geelong last week

Can’t have it both ways

While I partly agree, Kardinia Park is a tin pot shh1te hole designed for the Cats to play Interstaters and irrelevant Melbourne clubs (which we ain't)
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

The whole point of moving games away from 'suburban' grounds was originally to allow more people to go and boost attendances. Taking a home Richmond game like RFC vs Sydney from the MCG where it would attract a 60k crowd based on current form to the smaller Etihad is at odds with that philosophy. It would've made more sense for us to play Freo at Etihad than the Swans who have a much larger Melbourne-based supporter group thanks to old South fans.

Well said.
The game has outgrown the suburban grounds of yesteryear.
The Cats were allowed to play home games down their against teams where supporters wouldn’t be locked out.
If the AFL didn’t care about people getting locked out, St. Kilda would still be playing at Moorabbin, Carlton still at Princess Park, The Doggies at the Witten Oval and North Melbourne still at Arden Street.
These Geelong peanuts poo me the way they carry on.
It’s ok when it suits them!!

Well Ch7 will now be happy. Thanks to last night's upset, this game is now a top of the ladder clash: Us 1st vs Swans 2nd.

Too bad thanks to the AFL's dumb fixturing this year, the crowd will be restricted to <50k rather than 60-70k at the 'G ::).

It's a Thursday night, so hopefully the AFL comes to their senses and just moves the game to the MCG.

Baffling. Home game, top of the ladder clash, Thursday night...and it's at Fing Marvel...

Sadly, it won't happen. Contractually, every MCG tenant has to play one home game at Etihad.
