1. Richmond

40 points (10 wins, three losses), 135.0 per cent
If the Tigers' loss to Port Adelaide in round 12 showed some shaky signs, they wasted no time steadying the ship against another heavyweight the following Sunday. Their 18-point win over Geelong proved their steely resolve and manic pressure hasn't deserted them, and in turn sent an ominous threat to the rest of the competition. Coming games against Sydney, Adelaide and GWS are likely to frank the Tigers' status as the team to beat, particularly with Daniel Rioli back, and Dion Prestia and Bachar Houli to resume in the weeks following the bye.

1. Richmond

44 points (11 wins, three losses), 135.3 per cent
It looks good from here for the Tigers. Virtually unbeatable at the MCG, Richmond plays just three times away from its home base for the remainder of the season. Two of those games are against the lowly St Kilda (at Etihad Stadium) and Gold Coast (at Metricon Stadium). A road trip to Greater Western Sydney could be Richmond's toughest test in the final eight matches. Win that and there's a genuine chance they go unbeaten from now until September. Next on their list is the grand final rematch against the Crows on Friday night.

We could win every game .

I wont be disappointed if we drop a game or even two on the way to the finals.
I still think we are winding up and not playing our best footy just yet and doing that with a Dusty who is clearly been sore for majority of season now.

Slightly related I was just looking at the backend of Hawthorns recent premiership years,
Ive used Hawks as an example as they built a sustainable model both on/off field much like I feel we have.

in 2013 they lost 3 H & A games, won all finals
in 2014 they lost 5 H & A games, won all finals
in 2015 they lost 6 H & A games ,lost first final won next 3 finals

in 2013 one of those losses was to us in rd 19 by 41 pts
in 2014 was rd 21 lost to freo by 19 pts
in 2015 was rd 18 to tigers by 18 pts then again in rd 21 to port by 22 pts.

I guess my point here is it will be ok to lose a game

Here is the Bulldogs below, as im sure someone would have asked about their season despite being a one off to this stage.

in 2016,
in rd 18 they lost to Saints by 15 pts
in rd 19 they lost to geelong by 25 pts
in rd 23 they lost to freo by 20 pts
won all four finals

Intrestingly sydney finished on top with % of 151% with 17/5 and got beaten by 7th
Sydneys last loss was in round 17 until the finals were they lost their first final, win the next two then lost the GF.
The anywhere, anytime Tigers.

1. Richmond

48 points (12 wins, three losses), 137.8 per cent

Four more games to come at the MCG, the Tigers' impenetrable fortress. And, a bit of a dream run when considering the opposition too, with clashes with four current bottom-eight sides from their last seven games. They'll be tested depth-wise next week against the Giants with up to three players set to be forced out with injury, but even that seems like it'll be a minor challenge with ready-made reinforcements like Nick Vlastuin and Bachar Houli ready to come in. In short, it continues to be sunny skies above Punt Road as the finals approach.

1. Richmond

48 points (12 wins, four losses), 135.0 per cent

After yet another loss interstate, Richmond will be happy to return to chilly Melbourne. The Tigers only leave Victoria once for the rest of the home-and-away season, and that's a game against the struggling Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium. The reigning premiers have had a remarkably injury-free run over the last 18 months but are starting to be tested with dependable role-players Dan Butler, Jack Graham, Nathan Broad and Reece Conca sidelined. Consecutive games against top-eight sides Collingwood and Geelong at the MCG will go some way to determining if Richmond can finish in the top two.

What's ahead for the finals contenders?
By SEN
18 July 2018

Richmond (1st)

Round 18 v St Kilda (Etihad Stadium)

Expected to win coming off a narrow loss to the Giants. Were spanked in this fixture last year but a similar result is highly unlikely. Should win, despite the Saints being in decent form, and bounce back from another loss on the road.

Round 19 v Collingwood (MCG)

Shapes as a real blockbuster. Richmond withheld a genuine challenge from the Magpies in Round 6 before skipping away and with some key Pies unavailable due to injury, the Tigers could take full advantage again.

Round 20 v Geelong (MCG)

Another massive clash at the MCG. The Tigers did the job after an arm wrestle in Round 13 and could go a long way to securing a top-two finish if they can again exploit the Cats' lack of depth. But Chris Scott would have learned a valuable lesson from that defeat so this will be another ’50-50’ clash.

Round 21 v Gold Coast (Metricon Stadium)
Pencil this one in. The Suns simply don’t have the quality to beat the Tigers, although Stuart Dew will see this as the test of all tests, so expect them to have a crack.

Round 22 v Essendon (MCG)

Essendon could still be in the finals mix at this stage so this Friday night encounter may have a fair bit riding on it. The Tigers destroyed the Bombers in the Dreamtime game in Round 11 so there will certainly be revenge on the agenda for the black and red.

Round 23 v Western Bulldogs (MCG)

If all goes to plan, Richmond will be tuning up for September action having already secured top spot when they meet the Doggies in the final home and away match.

The AFL website is predicting us to finish the end of the H&A season on top of the ladder.

They're tipping us to play Collingwood in a Qualifying Final.

Predicted ladder

1. Richmond
2. West Coast
3. Port Adelaide
4. Collingwood
5. Geelong
6. Sydney
7. GWS
8. Melbourne
-----------------------
9. North Melbourne
10. Hawthorn
11. Adelaide
12. Essendon
13. Fremantle
14. Brisbane
15. Western Bulldogs
16. St Kilda
17. Gold Coast
18. Carlton

Games that will shape the Eight:

R19  Rich v Coll, MCG: Fortress MCG for the Tigers, who can’t afford to slip up if they want to stay top two.

R20 Rich v Geel, MCG: Can the Cats win a big one on the MCG? They’ll shore up a finals berth if they can.

1. Richmond

52 points (13 wins, four losses), 137.9 per cent

It looks like reasonably smooth sailing for the reigning premier, which plays four of its last five games at its MCG stronghold. In fact, when the Tigers meet Collingwood in front of what is sure to be a massive crowd next round, they will have the chance to win a record 18th successive game at the 'G. Despite potentially tricky clashes with the Pies, Geelong and Essendon, a top-two-finish appears inevitable – the box seat for a crack at back-to-back flags.

1. Richmond

56 points (14 wins, four losses), 137.8 per cent

The Tigers consolidated their hold on top spot with their 28-point win over Collingwood. With their healthy percentage gap on second-placed West Coast, they look a strong bet to finish minor premiers with three of their four remaining games at their MCG stronghold and the other against the struggling Suns. A home qualifying final seems all but assured with Richmond now two games clear of third-placed Collingwood.

1. Richmond

60 points (15 wins, four losses), 135.7 per cent

The Tigers overcame a dogged Geelong on Friday night and now look good things to hang on to top spot on the ladder at the end of the home and away season. They'll beat Gold Coast next week at Metricon Stadium and the Western Bulldogs at the MCG in the final round, and would also be expected to defeat Essendon in round 22, particularly given the Bombers' finals hopes are all but gone after their loss to Hawthorn on Saturday.

1. Richmond

64 points (16 wins, four losses), 139.7 per cent

It's all about fine tuning for the Tigers over the final fortnight after they wrapped up a coveted MCG fixture in week one of the finals with the demolition of Gold Coast. Essendon poses a legitimate test on Friday night, with the Bombers one of the League's in-form teams over the past 12 weeks. The big plus in the win over the Suns was seeing Dion Prestia, Bachar Houli and Jack Graham get some game time after injuries and plenty of Tigers will have finals spots to play for over the next two matches.

Win our last two games and we'll reach 18 wins for only the third time (1972 & 1982 the other times). Our percentage is much higher than both those years so we could be witnessing our best 22 round H&A season in the Club's history. Hopefully we finish the job this year unlike both those years where we stuffed up on the big day :P.

Our percentage is currently the 5th best in our history. Higher than even 1980 which is surprising in some ways given we dished out a few floggings that year. 1980 was our best offensive year and 2018 is looking like being our best defensive year (22 round season).

That would be sweet.

Their fans must be wondering what the hell is going on. Yet again they seem to be cracking at the pointy end of the season.
