Pettifer
« on: March 18, 2006, 05:15:43 AM »
Looks like Pettifer is finally getting to the stage where he is getting closer to his full potential and showing why he was rated a first round draft pick as a junior. For a guy much maligned, Kayne seems to added more run and physicality to his game over the preseason. In the trial games he's played, he's been named in the bests in most of them and a great effort yesterday by all reports kicking and setting up goals for us.

He's finally getting all the Spud-ism out of his system. :thumbsup  Now if Kraks and Tivs could do the same :-\

Hopefully Kraks can get the Spud-ism out of his system, but don't care much for Tivs cause his going out soon IMO

Agreed X  :thumbsup, not only does Petts kick goals for us, but he also setups plenty of goals with his long bombs inside 50

He is coming along nicely.

Another big plus for me is that he has a great conversion rate which is what we need. :thumbsup

Pettifer is our best deliverer into the forward 50 and our best shot at goal.  Very dangerous when he takes a mark inside or within reach of the 50.  If he can improve his ground play then he will be a great player.  Seems to be improving this area by all reports.
Does anyone have half an idea on anything?

I'll be happy as if he can back up from what he did last year. Not totally sold on him yet, though I agree he is a good deliverer and a great set shot.

Petts still has some significant upside IMO.

You could almost see the "click" in his head (when he is not punching himself  :lol) under Wallace's gameplan and structure.

Could be a potential 50 goal a year player if improvement continues.

Still needs to work on the defensive side of his game and contribute some body pressure when tackling.

Perhaps the change in number is an omen ? Almost double the number & double the output !

Agree Darth. Pettifer should be aiming this year to average 2 goals per game which would get him around the 40+ mark.

The No. 8 guernsey hasn't been much use to us since Disco retired - Merenda, Pettifer (under Spud) and Roach jnr.

Merenda wasn't too bad-when he was fit.

Problem with Merenda was we waited for him to show want he was potentially capable of but apart from a few fleeting moments he, like a number of Tigers post-95, never came on.

Petts is great, but i reckon that report better suits Lids  :thumbsup
