Good mark by Menadue on the wing. No one on the mark so he runs 20m and kicks it inside 50. Coates mark and runs into an open goal  :gotigers.

HTB free to Silvestro at HF. Goes long to a pack. Mannagh crumbs, steps around a defender and snaps a goal  :gotigers.

Poor kick by Essendon out of defence. Mannagh to Stengle to Wood all by hand but his snap misses.

Lost our structure forward of the ball. No one forward of centre. Essendon rebound by hand into the breeze through the corridor and get a goal.

Stengle wins the ball at the HB stoppage. Off to Bolton who does the don't argue and bombs it long from the centre circle. It carries over the pack on the breeze for a point.

Weird goal to us.

Macca at HF gets 50. Goes long to the square. A pack forms 10m out but the ump won't blow the whistle to ball it up. Everyone stops except Baker who snaps a goal  :gotigers.

So kicking the ball 50m into an empty forward and it rolls out of bounds is now classed as deliberate OOB :facepalm.

Anyway we get it back and Lloyd goals  :gotigers.

Good tackle defensive side of centre causes the turnover. A chain of handballs Stengle to Bolton to Balta who squares to Mannagh = goal  :gotigers

And that's Quarter Time:

Rich  5.3-33
Ess   1.2-8

Goals: Mannagh 2, Lloyd, Baker, Coates.

The breeze is strong to the Mt Alexander End (left of screen) so needed at least a 4 goal lead. The ball was carrying a long way. We didn't make the most of it in the first 15 minutes as we butchered a number of Inside 50 entries.

We've set up to counterattack so it'll be interesting to see how we go into this strong breeze. Need to run in numbers and link up by hand to get deep entries to be close enough to goal to score. No way it seems up can kick accurately right of screen beyond 30m out.

Lucky a number times on transition out of defence. A few 50/50s went our way. It ends with CCJ goaling  :gotigers

One against the breeze.

Bathie took a good mark on the wing but his kick is poor. It rebounds off a contest to Menadue in the centre but his kick is smothered and Essendon goal on the turnover.

Good play by Naish on the wing. A 1-2 and then goes long. Good forward pressure. Baker smother causes the turnover. Silvestro to Mannagh who goals  :gotigers

Essendon goal. Breeze is strong to their left forward pocket and the ball spent the last 5 minutes in their forward line. We just couldn't get it out of there.

Need to hang on here.  Our run has dried up against the breeze.
