Tom Lonergan
« on: March 18, 2006, 06:44:12 PM »
Anyone interested in trading for Tom Lonegran at seasons end?

Lonergan is a solid build: 197cm & 97kg, mobile, strong mark, good kicking skills and has some classy finishing skills.
Lonergan is also quite young and has done some impressive things in the NAB cup.

I personally would like to have Lonergan at Punt Road, and i think it wouldn't cost too much to get him because Geelong has so many promising young talls (eg Nathan Ablett, Playfair), that they wouldn't mind losing one.

If the 2006 draft is as strong as everyone is predicting then we should be holding onto our picks and draft and develop our own talls. Maybe Lonegran might be someone to consider in the PSD.

The PSD would probably be the better option to get Lonergan if he was out of contract

Poor bloke :( Only a youngster too.
When I first heard I thought he just injured his ribs :(
I hope he gets better soon and there are no more complications, I wish him and his family all the best during this tough time :(

The other really nasty one from the weekend is Henschel fromthe Crows - dislocated knee cap, ACL ruptured and they reckon bone damage as well. May never play again - that's sad

I know footy is a rough sport, but you don't really realise until things like this happen  :-\
I hope both can eventually continue to play on.

I saw that one live on tv  :-\. Hentschel just got into his kicking motion when he got tackled from behind and his leg buckled underneath him as his and the Port player's weight went right over it. Not as graphic as Browny's broken leg but just as sickening to watch. Very sad if he never plays again :(.

Yeah I watched it too MT. It was somewhat hidden on most camera angles but there was one camera that got the lot. OUCH! Poor bugger could be out for quite a while. I saw the Lonergan one also.  I thought it might have been ribs at the time. He showed courage going for that contest. He even walked off the field
