Did I just not read an article in another thread which states that we have 11 players unavailable for selection this week?

It seems the other teams players break after a gruesome mauling by us. The Scum haven’t recovered from round 1. Remember when Essendrug were up and about and they faced us at our home ground...victory sure was sweet that night and since then their players have been going down like 9 pins. Apparently Geelong and the Filth were the winners when we wiped the floor with them both in the last quarter and ever since players from both clubs have been heading to the emergency department.
Adelaide, GWS still haven’t recovered from the pressure thrashing they received when we met them both in last years finals, a small few have been so mentally scrarred that both clubs had to hire a full time shrink. Adelaide have allegedly built a padded room just to give the boys some extra protection in case they harm themselves with the thought of playing us again.  :rollin

I think the whole comp is crapping themselves and injuries are more prevalent because of it.  :shh
The club that keeps giving.

The 180 this club has taken still leaves me breathless. From being confident the team will turn up to play, and also injury management. It wasn't that long ago where we'd rush someone back in too quickly to try and remain competitive (think Foley) and even the management of Lids wasn't the best either.  Now we have a good core of players which are "lucky" to remain injury free but I believe that RFC are just being better at conditioning and not overloading the players in preseason (ala Adelaide and Collingwood)

How injuries have hit every finals contender

Jon Anderson,
Herald Sun
August 8, 2018

SOMETIMES it’s not just the number you have out injured (or suspended), but the quality of those players and the roles they play.

Then there is Collingwood, which has both quantity and quality missing, including three vital defensive components and two matchwinning forwards.

It sees the Pies ranked first on this list of teams that have been hit hardest of the 12 remaining September hopefuls (in terms of players missing from their best 22). For Mark Robinson, the Pies have a couple too many missing.

“I thought Collingwood couldn’t win it before Darcy Moore went down and now I’m sure. Having said that, if GWS or Collingwood win this year’s premiership it will signify an extraordinary coaching performance,” Robinson said.

“Richmond, despite recent minor injuries, are my premiership selection because of the way they play, their player availability and the injury doubts on rivals.”

When Dan Butler returns possibly in Round 22, Richmond will have close to a full list for selection, including all of its top-ranked 22 players.

GWS, on the other hand, has key role players unavailable, although there remains a steely resolve among the available players to prove they are a lot more than just a very talented collection of mainly high draft picks.
