The MCG website says they are expecting 80k to rock up on Saturday.

Yeah saw that but i seriously believe there will be more than that, 85K+
I wouldn't be at all surprised if the MCC revise their crowd estimate come later in the week.
Agree. Might even push 90k+. It all depends on how many MCC members show up. With our game being the only one at the M.C.G. and just one other match in Melbourne this weekend, a fair few MCC neutrals should turn up for a top 4 clash between traditional Big 4 rivals.

Spot on and i reckon MCC and AFL members will be full. Is the game on FTA not sure if it is think its only on foxtel.

MCC ESTIMATED ATTENDANCE
86,000
http://www.mcc.org.au/whats-on/calendar-of-events/events/2018/july/richmond-v-collingwood-july-28

This figure could well rise by game day, im tipping between 85-90K

That's a big jump in one morning. It's definitely going to be a sellout as far as public tickets.

Public tickets

Public reserved seats are selling quickly and may not be available on match day.

We encourage fans to purchase their requirements as soon as possible via Ticketek.

There's whispers going around about Ch7 thinking about putting the game on FTA and even some rumours about moving the game to Saturday night which I can't see happening. Foxtel will be licking their lips though.

Massive jump luving it as its our home game.  It could go on FTA but they wouldn't announce that until ALL public seats are sold. Yeah agree no chance the game being moved to night, McChin was advocating that.

Can Tigers-Pies set a home-and-away record?

Jennifer Phelan
afl.com.au
Jul 23, 2018

DESPITE the hype around Saturday's blockbuster Richmond-Collingwood clash at the MCG, the AFL and Melbourne Cricket Club don't expect a record crowd for a home-and-away game between the two clubs.

The League is predicting a turnout of between 80,000-85,000, while the MCC has forecast a figure of 86,000 for the clash between the first-placed Tigers and third-placed Magpies.

The highest home-and-away game attendance for a game featuring the two big Victorian clubs was 92,436 on Anzac Day in 1977. The Tigers went on to play in a semi-final that year while the Pies famously lost the Grand Final replay to North Melbourne after drawing the week before.

The next-best crowd for a match for premiership points between the clubs was 82,191 on Easter Monday in April, 1971.

The next two games on the list are a better reflection of what could happen this week – 81,966 (round 19, 1983) and 81,950 (round four, 2013) – given they were both played in the same traditional Saturday afternoon timeslot.

While Saturday's crowd is likely to surpass those two figures and become the second-highest home-and-away attendance between the two clubs, the record attendance from 1977 looks safe.

The Tigers are hunting down an AFL record membership of 100,000 this year, with 99,289 signed up for their premiership defence at last count.

They will enter this match undefeated at the MCG this season, while the Magpies are enjoying a mid-season resurgence that has lifted them from 11th after round eight to as high as second after round 15.

Parking restrictions in Yarra Park will be in force on Saturday, but not the blanket ban that has been in place for other blockbusters this season.

The MCC has advised parking will be "very limited and in high demand" and have urged fans to take public transport or park in the CBD.

As of Monday afternoon, there were approximately 1200 public seats left for sale, with restricted view seats to become available once that allocation is exhausted.

Reserved seats on level one of the MCC have sold out but there are some remaining on level four.

The weather isn't expected to dampen the occasion with the early forecast a cloudy day with a top of 15 and a 20 per cent chance of a shower.

A good read and the most important thing out of that is their are approximately 1200 public seats left for sale, so i urge all tiger supporters/members to upgrade to a seat NOW

Q. Will any more tickets be released for Richmond v Collingwood this saturday?

A. We will work through that with the AFL and the two clubs this morning. If there were more tickets made available, it's likely to be a very small number. Will advise once we know.

Fans hit as Richmond set to hike ticket prices for MCG blockbuster with Collingwood

Eliza Sewell,
Herald Sun
July 24, 2018

RICHMOND is set to cash in on Saturday’s blockbuster against Collingwood with ticket price hikes hitting fans.

More than 85,000 people are expected to flood the MCG and the reigning premier has gone premium thanks to the AFL’s variable and dynamic pricing system.

Variable pricing allows the Tigers to set their base seat rate for each match depending on appeal, while dynamic pricing lets them raise that price by up to $20 ahead of match day.

Richmond yesterday refused to confirm to the Herald Sun the original starting price for tickets to the Collingwood game.

But a level one wing seat has increased by $10, from $55 to $65, in the past week.

The Tigers are charging $47 for a level four seat for Saturday’s uber clash — the same seat will cost a Tigers fan $35 in Round 23 against the Bulldogs.

When the Demons host the Swans and Collingwood play Port Adelaide at the ‘G later this year, the same level four seat is $25.

In the past week the Tigers increased their level four seat for Round 19 by $2 while a level two wing seat has gone from $70 to $75.

Scalpers are set to profit from Saturday’s blockbuster with one re-sale site offering four seats on level one on the wing for $258 each.

Fans can secure two level-four seats, way up in the heavens, from the same site for $195.

The AFL forces all clubs to sell some $25 general admission tickets, but then clubs set their own prices for other seat categories.

Richmond yesterday warned there was only a limited number of public tickets left for the match and encouraged supporters to buy or upgrade their general admission membership to a reserved seat to avoid missing out.

In 2016 the AFL declared its dynamic pricing policy would benefit fans and was aimed at increasing attendance.

St Kilda reduced general admission tickets to a recent historic low of $13 for its Round 17 clash with Carlton. It also reduced prime level-two behind the goal seats from $75 to $45.

But the most popular games are routinely hit with price hikes with Tigers fans to also pay a premium to attend their Round 20 clash with Geelong.

Level four seats for that game have increased to $42 while level two wing seats are $72.

Hawthorn will charge fans $75 for a level two wing seat for its games against Essendon and Geelong, while a level four seat is priced at $40.
