Rutten off to Essendon
« on: August 24, 2018, 12:51:04 PM »
We've lost our backline coach to Essendon.

Should have been announced after our season ended....

Thanks Ben for your tremendous input that netted us a flag.
OER. Calling it as it is since 2004.

Unfortunately a consequence of being a successful team like ours is that you cannot keep integral contributors to that success for very long. It is unfortunate that its only a matter of time before other clubs poach key personnel in order to try to implement similar systems at their clubs.

The RFC can take this as a big compliment that other clubs want to follow our model and will go to any lengths to access the intel as to how its been acheived.

What we need to do as a club is to continually evolve so that we are always ahead of the game, thats the challenge to the football department moving forward.

No issues except the timing of the announcement, need to bring in another recently retired former key back to take his place

Wonder whether they will promote Ryan Ferguson who has done a good job with the backs in the VFL?

Wouldn’t mess with our fwd setup. Our backline have been together along time would be easier for them to ease in a new coach.

“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
