The Hawks' run home was 10-2 but they only played 3 top 8 sides - GWS (lost), Geelong (just held on) and Sydney (minus Buddy & Parker). The Hawks also lost to bottom 4 side Brisbane twice this year who exposed them with speed and broke down Hawthorn's latest team defensive set-up which has been the key to their wins.

Let’s not forget Hannebery was off early in the game with a corkie. That’s like missing Jack, Cotchin and Dusty against Hawthorn
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

I feel like Hawthorn have been punching above their weight all season.  Surely that will be exposed Friday week.

Think we've done well to get Hawthorn as our opponents.

Can’t be too surprised tbh, they’ve done this exact schedule for a few years.

Although a caller on SEN said the AFL advertised the 7 - 9, so they booked flights for that night.

Hawks to go back to the tape in bid to tame Tigers: Shiels

... He said the Hawks would study their Round 3 loss to Richmond in preparation for next week's Qualifying final.

What a joke

Why?

Thursday night is a stupid timeslot, driven by TV

It is not family friendly, crap for people who work and have early starts  :banghead :banghead

Would think the game that is going to get the biggest crowd would be primetime on Friday

Hawks to go back to the tape in bid to tame Tigers: Shiels They wont be the only ones studying tape, am sure Dimma and Co. will be trawling the latest Hawks video also. Still dont think they have played against the type of pressure we applied apart from the last time we played them. You can watch tapes endlessly but its how you execute under pressure that decides your fate.
