Asked about Tom Lynch, Caro said 'it's great that he's coming' or words to that effect

Summary:

* Hunted instead of the hunter this year?  A little bit new. Eye of the beholder. Depends on how you look on it. Our style is still of the hunter. Looking forward to the finals series.

* Finals has come at the right time. Been in a holding pattern and our footy has been clunky. Hopefully, it spurs us on to our best footy.

* Opposition tactics? Bulldogs took a high risk strategy as have other sides have tried (Geelong, Essendon). Thought we handled it okay.

* Don't care about playing Thursday night.

* Butler - 70 mins in VFL was the plan. Will probably be 50 mins. There's a risk as he hasn't played for a while. We'll weight up whether to play him in the VFL or if it's better to just play him in the seniors.

* Positivity of your coaching post-2016? Did you get it from the States? Yeah a bit. Normally a positive person but 2016 was a really bad year. Realised he needed his mindset to get back to how he was coaching his kids in underage sport.

* They replayed Lloyd's comments at the end of 2016 saying we needed to rebuild and Dimma's tactics were out of date. Dimma jokingly demanded an apology being premiership teammates. Lloyd said at the time he was right as we moved the ball very slowly.

* We went through a journey. You don't measure yourself by your success but by your bumps in the road (2016). We've made finals in 5 of the past 6 years. There's always going to be a bump in the road. Caro chipped in and said you didn't win a final in 2013-15 but Dimma said we still won plenty of games and twice 15 wins in a season.

* Got high end talent but also have very good role players (lambert, Grimes, Vlastuin, Rioli, Higgins, etc). Once they grasp that role they grow.

* Game doesn't know what you've done only what you're doing. After the premiership, we wanted to be a hungry side. Lead by our leaders in Cotch, Rance and Jack.

* Rance's comments on Lynch? Do you want players commenting on recruiting? Ignoring Tom Lynch (see wayne's post on what Caro said), players will always be involved in bringing in talent. We want our players to have their opinion and not always follow the company line. If you don't allow that then you just have a group of yes men and you don't improve.

* Number of players out of contract this year is pretty standard. We need to shuffle things to fit within our cap which gives us the opportunity to chase a free agent. Those guys understand the process and a number are in our best 22.

* Believes clubs we need to break the soft off-field cap in the near future to keep good staff. Having said that it's exciting to bring in new people.

* Learnt a lot from Clarko and looking forward to the game. Their girls played netball together tonight so it was a frosty night (laughs).

Dimma wouldn't talk about Lynch specifically. Just spoke about how he didn't have an issue with our players expressing their opinion regarding potential recruits (eg: Rance).

"Finals has come at the right time. Been in a holding pattern and our footy has been clunky. Hopefully, it spurs us on to our best footy."

This says alot about our form over last 3 weeks especially holding pattern tells me we've been very cautious and going through motions.

She was kind of getting talked over when she said it. It went through to the keeper.

He didn't really say anything that we haven't heard before.

Sick to death of hearing - we had a bad year in 2016 but prior to that we played finals 3 years in a row.

At least Caro called him on it and said yeah but you didn't win a final.

Caro's arrow went over like lead balloon last night you could almost hear the crickets chirping.

Trying to lash the AFL for not having a Women's state of origin on the bye week, last years ratings tanked bigtime so I suspect the Channel Seven told the AFL they were not interested as they would make a loss.

Caro is becoming more of a social agenda warrior than a journalist these days.

I think the bye has come at the right time too. When you're reigning premier you're the hunted and every side tries to bring their best footy when they play you. There's few easier games. Up to the Geelong game, we seemed to have played "premiership challengers" week in week out for about two months straight.  We look tired in the month before the midseason bye and weren't running out games like we normally would (we lost to Port & hung on against North & Geelong). After the bye rest, we rediscovered our mojo. I think the same thing has happened in the past month before this upcoming bye. Hopefully, we again rediscover our mojo after another week's break and come out all blazing in the QF :pray.

He just always believed in himself and the players when no one else did, including most of us and most certainly me. I thought we'd never win a flag under him and our once in a lifetime players in rance jack and martin would go to waste. Still getting over that flag last year  :cheers
