Out-of-favour Tiger mid meets with Gold Coast

OUT-OF-contract Richmond ball-getter Anthony Miles has met with Gold Coast about a possible move as the Suns look to bolster their midfield.

AFL.com.au understands Miles, who has played only one senior game this year, is on the Suns' radar ahead of next month's NAB AFL Trade Period.

Miles signed a one-year contract extension at the end of last season, but has not been able to break into Richmond's line-up apart from his 20-disposal and one-goal game against Port Adelaide in round 12.

He also managed just five games last year after he was squeezed out of the Tigers' first-choice midfield. Miles played 19 games in 2016, and averaged 23 disposals as well as booting 10 goals.

A move to the Suns would be the 26-year-old's third AFL club, having started his career at Greater Western Sydney before arriving at Punt Road for the 2014 season.

The Suns are on the hunt for midfield depth and experience to add to their list.

Brisbane midfielder Ben Keays is believed to have an interest in heading to the Suns for further opportunities after playing just two games for the Lions this year.

Keays, 21, is a Queenslander and joined Brisbane in 2015 as a product of the Lions Academy, but is unlikely to be a priority for the Suns during the exchange period.

The Suns hold pick No.2 at the national draft, and are expected to be given pick No.3 as compensation for losing co-captain Tom Lynch to free agency.

However, the top end of this year's pool doesn't have the same amount of midfield options as previous years, meaning the Suns could look to draft talls while targeting midfielders through trade or free agency.

The AFL is also considering ways to help the struggling Suns on-field, with one possibility the club will be given priority access to a number of mature-age players from state leagues.

So we get pick 100 odd for Miles?

Works for me; but can the AFL come down on us for collusion?

The article most likely released now by Richmond or close friend to establish separation on the Lynch deal.

The suns have multiple picks in first three rounds but nothing in round 4 so we will get their round 5 pick in the 70s and one they probably would not have used.

Given Miles did not get any attention last trade period we can honestly say this was best deal.

Why are we trying to give away Miles?

An exchange of third round picks would be fair.

Wasn't wanted by anyone last year and wouldn't get anything for him now bar maybe a token late pick.  :shh

Regardless, I wish him all the best if he does go to GC.

A few clubs were absolutely interested but thought they might be able to talk him into going over via pre season draft, weren't willing to trade for him. There was a flurry of work done by at least one club to trade him but left it all too late.

Snip was offered contacts this year at Sydney and another club although was his decision to take up the extra year on offer
Is very well liked and respected by all at RFC
Will no doubt get to the club he wants in 2019

Anthony's attitude over the last couple of years has been outstanding
Despite being overlooked week in, week out he has just gone about his business to work hard be and be team first.

Defintely something I wish some of his peers in the reserves displayed consistantly.

Good luck to him in his future at another club.
