Not really, the last years of his career were crap because of his knee(s)
The Hawks knew his knees were shot which is why they wouldn't offer him a long enough deal for him, so he walked out on them
He was an All Australian when fit and the prime years of his career were taken from him, that doesn't make him an ordinary player, just unlucky.
He retired at 28 years old after at least 3 years greatly affected by injury, hard to judge his true potential from that.

So much about talking about every club looking for a coach  ::). Must be a first for the year that we didn't get a mention at all.

North job - Bucks favourite then Longmire followed by Hardwick on the next rung. Longmire not sure if he wants to go through the process as he's happy up in Sydney and will probably get the gig up there when Roos eventually retires.

North had their board meeting last night to discuss how they are going to go about finding a new coach. Brayshaw talked to Buckley's manager Craig Kelly but wouldn't do any media today as the footy show is on tonight.

Hutchy said tonight after the criticism Richmond copped last time for jumping in quickly and grabbing Wallace that this time around we will go through the most exhaustive process that probably any club has gone through to select a new coach. It'll be a 3 step process apparently. Psycho, ... etc.

Lindsay Gaze will be part of the selection committee.

The candidates will have to jump through a 100 hoops to get the job.

Bucks said he will speak to both Richmond and North if they want him to. Bucks wants to find a club that is a good fit for him and if he is a good fit for the club. He knows himself in terms of his strengths but he doesn't know both clubs intimately. Needs to ask them as many questions as they will ask him. Hutchy said because North's process will be shorter than Richmond's, North will have the jump on Buckley.

Port likely to re-sign Mark Williams for 2 years on Tuesday. He'll take a significant pay cut ($800 down to $400-450). The Port Board has to still accept the recommendation of the subcommittee (a couple of Port directors aren't fans) but Hutchy says it's expected to get through.

We went through a similiar 'exhaustive process' when we looked for a club captain which came up with Johnson. So when it is all said and done I think we do need to cover all areas but, my experience with conducting interviews, you ususally know within the first 5 minutes if someone is right for the role or not.

Judging by how excited Brayshaw and Lyon is they truly believe Buckley is a shoe in for the Kangaroos.  :-X

Seeing as Hutchy says that Tambling was hypnotized, maybe we should get this guy on the interview panel.  :lol

The good news is the number of clubs that may be looking for a new coach at the end of the year is shrinking. Unless Harvey gets the flick at Freo (unlikely) then it could end up just being us and North which will mean there'll be a number of decent candidates to select from. What else is positive is no likely candidate is rejecting us outright. A pleasant change from the past and a sign the stability off-field is helping on that front.

Richo very diplomatic and towing the company line when Sam asked him if he wanted Sheeds as coach. Richo said Sheeds will have to go through the process like any other applicant and when Sam pushed him Richo added we'll have to see if Sheeds ticks all the boxes to be a modern coach. Sam added after 26 (sic) years at Essendon Sheeds would tick most of them which Richo agreed. Gary stopped the questioning as unfair on Richo who is seen as Richmond's most favourite player. Brayshaw then asked about Rawlings and Richo said Jade is a good communicator and is very black and white in what he wants which is what you want from a coach. He's been with us for 2 years so we are familiar with what he wants.

Richo is looking pretty glum tonight. He only pepped up when that Smith's ad look-a-like was shown and then hanging it on Sam for wanting a clearance to Richmond in 1975 and that's the reason why he hates us.

When will the so called brilliant minds of the media ask the question
of joel bowdens absence and what role he played in the approach of wallace
and wether this is the reason he has been unquestionably DROPPED!?

Wasn't Joel along with Richo the ones who said to the rest the players don't get involved in decisions about the coach?

Hutchy btw said the chance of Sheedy being coach is next to nil. The Tigers will offer Sheeds the courtesy of going through the 3-part process but Sheeds won't put himself through it. The groundswell of support will help him a little bit but it won't be enough.
