Jake Aarts had to delete his Instagram account due to the abuse. No one should have to cop that. It’s so wrong 😢

People are awful that's for sure. Wonder if Jack, Grimes, Vlastuin, so on had the same abuse?

Actual abuse to people's socials is disgraceful. Absolutely disgraceful.

I will defend the tiger army and suggest it was a bunch of opposition supporters hanging poo, most likely those who bet on the game and money on Tigers win. Another reason to get rid of gambling in our game.

As much as Jakes decision was costly and frustrated the hell out of me as a supporter that targeted stuff online is just disgusting.
Go Tigers!

Very sad. No doubt the players do feel it.

I felt for George after that last YouTube vid and reached out to say something nice and he actually responded and said thanks.

Some people must think they don't feel it but they certainly do especially the guys who are on the fringe.

There’s a great dyl and friends episode where Dylan Buckley and Gorringe reminisce on their bad games and how even though they know better the first thing they do is pick up their phone and check socials and see all the comments hanging poo on them. Buckley said it was really bad to the point he would get super anxious leading into every weekend (even if he was just playing vfl)

I’m happy they can laugh about it now but man the hypocrisy of “rip Frawley, mental health is super important” to going off your clacker and storming someone’s Instagram is disgusting.

Social media platforms are rubbish anyway. What’s the point of it?

Jake Aarts has been named in the 40-player VFL Team of the Year squad for 2022 🙌

The final team will be named at the VFL and VFLW Awards on Monday, September 12.

Well done to Aarts on getting 42 games with the Tigers. He gave it everything he had. I thought he earned his keep in his first 20 odd games but unfortunately got found out in a few areas in the end. He will always hold the title of No.1 player in any alphabetical list of Richmond players.

Yep, wasn't a fan at all but could never question his effort. Came on board by the VFL squad, got a contract with the AFL side and played 40 games at the top level. Got everything out of himself to achieve that. I hope he's very proud of himself because he should be. Did what all of us dreamed of doing as kids
I work in Africa and they were taking the pee out of me for saving Africa.......

Can only echo the thoughts of previous posters. Fair play to the guy and congrats on your Richmond career. Contrast with Stack: 42 games to 35. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.
