The only slight problem we have this year is the squeeze on list spots.
We currently have 8 on the rookie list.
We can (and should) delist Weller, Townsend and Aarts.
I did think we would have to promote Pickett, Baker, Stack, Chol and possibly Smith.
I now see we can leave Pickett on the rookie list as a mid-year pick and I wonder whether the same is true of Stack as a supplemental pick.
Probably leave Smith for another year on the rookie if possible as well as Moore.
Means we have to find room for Baker and Chol on the main list.
We have lost Grigg and Ellis.
We need to find four more spots to take 4 in the draft.
If all of Butler, Markov, Menadue and McIntosh left that would not be a bad thing.
The key is what picks or players we get in trade.
If the picks are below our current 40ish then they're useless as we won't use them.
A trade for a player means we have to find another spot on the list.
I was thinking we might have to demote Markov and Miller to the rookie.
Or can we just add 2 to the main list and have 40 and 6?
In looking at McIntosh I looked at Freo and the only ones who grab me are Cerra and Brayshaw.
Surely they wouldn't give up Cerra for McIntosh. Maybe we can do a deal of McIntosh and Menadue for him. I'd actually do that.
McIntosh or Menadue for Brayshaw is a bit of pointless like-for-like.
Would we be interested in a Hugh Dixon (196, 96 Key Forward from Tassie) in a trade.
Maybe that's the one;- McIntosh + Menadue for Cerra + Dixon. Cerra worth more balanced by Dixon worth less.
Leading from that; Could we get a Brander trade from West Coast?
Geez it's nice to sit back and have so many good players, we have to throw away some.
Last year it was Ellis, Miles, Lloyd and Conca - all playing for other teams
This year it could be Butler, Menadue, McIntosh, Markov and Ellis.
And all because they're 3rd or 4th in the race for a spot in the team.
