Multiple Melbourne clubs have inquired about Port Adelaide star Robbie Gray, who turns 32 next year and qualifies for unrestricted free agency.

https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/teams/port-adelaide/robbie-gray-attracts-strong-interest-from-victorian-clubs/news-story/71fc07ff8fd78e6e8ef516e05d3dca3f

Betts has gone to Carlton for a future 4th round pick and Adelaide are paying part of his salary.

Old and old.

Why would you bother...

Not like either player is going to do a Hodge @ Brisvegas!

Why would you go with Betts over Butler?  Eddie is finished as a player.  He's all offence, zero defense.

Exactly!

And opposition/media seem to think Butler is only worth a 4th if that haha.

He has kicked more goals in his early career than Eddie so far too

Turn trade radio back on after a 2 hour break and first thing I hear is Joey Daniher and pick bloody 9.  Turned straight off again.
Have the clubs been told to hold off until the deadline to make it seem exciting??   That's my theory.

WHO IS EASY TO DEAL WITH?

Geelong’s Stephen Wells and Hawthorn’s Graham Wright were said to be the best to negotiate with, while Richmond also received praise from a small sample size of interviewees.

WHO IS HARD TO DEAL WITH?

It’s almost a tradition of trade period to identify Essendon and Adrian Dodoro as the most difficult trade negotiators.

No fan of Norf but some in the media are as deluded as the Bombers if they think North will give up Ben Brown to help out Essendon if Daniher goes to the Swans  :lol.

Collingwood remains willing to trade contracted defender Matt Scharenberg as its salary cap squeeze extends to various players.

Carlton ruckman Andrew Phillips is set to request a move to Essendon.

Marc Pittonet informed Hawthorn of his desire to move to Carlton.

Gold Coast agreed to terms with its former ruckman Zac Smith to move back to the club after four years at Geelong.

The future of Josh Jenkins remains in limbo with just two days left in the Trade Period, with Adelaide revealing it has yet to receive any contact from rival clubs.

Ch 7 reckons the Brad Hill deal from Freo to the Saints will be done tomorrow. Hopefully that frees things up so we can do the Butler and Menadue trades.

This is how the media thinks the Saints will get all 5 players.

Step 1:

St Kilda: Loses Picks 12 and 18 | Gains Paddy Ryder, Dougal Howard and Pick 10

Port Adelaide: Loses Paddy Ryder, Dougal Howard and Pick 10 | Receives Picks 12 and 18

Step 2:

St Kilda: Loses Pick 10 and future first-round pick | Gains Bradley Hill

Fremantle: Loses Bradley Hill | Gains Pick 10 and future first-round pick

Step 3:
St Kilda uses the pick they will receive for Bruce on trading for Jones.

Step 4:
St Kilda gets Butler for a late pick.

If Freo get 2 first rounders for Hill that will be the biggest robbery since Bonnie & Clyde

Talk of the Suns offering picks 15 & 20 for Brad Crouch.

Aside from that we're getting things like below from Dal Santo on trade radio to pass the time:

Dal: If Dustin Martin went to North Melbourne two years ago, they would still not win a flag.

Neither would we, just quietly.

In fact if there's any one player above the rest who we owe our two flags two - that would be Dusty for sure.

From Jon Ralph:

I understand North are giving up their first-rounder (8 ) to Melbourne for next year's Dees first-rounder. But get back 26 and 50 this year from Melbourne. Big news but backing in the points value and the Dees just being OK next year to maximise the trade.

So now Melbourne have picks 3 and 8 in this year's draft after pick swap with North. Do the Demons have an ace up their sleeve for a player trade we haven't heard about?
