Do you consider Damien Hardwick a great coach

I have to say I consider Damien Hardwick to be a great coach and there were times when I thought he would never ever get close. But for me he has proved himself.
His success is not only reflected in the flag or even in his ever improving win loss record or even in the continual processing of new talent but also in the inherent failures of other clubs. Hardwick came to us when we were a complete rabble. The papers had scaoegoated us as the worst list and team since the disastrous final days if Fitzroy but Hardwick lifted us made us competitive and then with his staff winners.
Compare that to Brad Scott who started with a better list at the same time and Bolton at Carlton and Richardson ar St Kilda. None made any inroads. All those clubs are miles away. Hardwick has been great for Richmond but weve been good for him. Were doing to Essendon what they did to us when they took Sheedy. For me Hardwick is a great coach just behind Hafey and in time anything is possible.

Dimma , Benny and Peggy have turned a basket case into a superpower. Enough said.

Theres no doubt Gale and the board played an important role but Hardwick has been the chief architect. Without a winning team its hard to create a superpower thats not to underscore the role of Gale or Balme etc but Hardwick deserves a high place in the history of the RFC for his achievements.

As a premiership coach and based on his record, Dimma is a champion coach. He deserves all the accolades for breaking our 37 year long drought. However, he needs to win more than one flag to become a "Great" IMO. Hoping he does this year  .

Stats wise, he is our sixth best ever coach:
Hafey      - 4 flags from 5 GFs, 15 wins from 20 finals, 70% win rate.
Minogue  - Back-to-back flags, 6 wins from 7 finals, 58% win rate.
Hughes   - 1 flag from 5 GFs, 7 wins from 12 finals, 73% win rate.
Bentley   - 1 flag from 2 GFs, 4 wins from 8 finals, 65% win rate.
Dyer       - 1 flag from 3 GFs, 4 wins from 10 finals, 61% win rate.
Hardwick - 1 flag from 1 GF,  4 wins from 8 finals, 55% win rate.
Jewell      - 1 flag from 1 GF, 3 wins from 3 finals, 47% win rate.

I absolutely laid into him from 2013-2016 so it’s only fair I give him the praise for not just taking us to a flag but so far steering is in a good position while all our key players are out. He is a very good coach

I was OK with him until 2016 then i was adamant he had to go.
All credit he reinvented himself and at the same time the team and gave us back a real Richmond culture and comraderie to be bloody proud of.
Love him to bits for this and the flag in 2017, but need another flag for sure.

I couldn’t believe he played Petterd over Foley in 2013, his inexplicable dislike for Shane tuck and not playing Anthony miles until forced to via injuries in 2014. And of course 2016 I wanted him out. But he has more than made up for it with 2017 and even 2018 and now. If he does manage to steer us to another flag he will be immortalised as a tiger for sure
