Out for me goes: Soldo, Higgins, Bolton, Broad
In comes: CCJ, Lambert, Graham, Naish

Nothing against Soldo but better off getting games into CCJ as he will come on and be a better option long term
Higgins needs a spell
Bolton just not getting enough of it and should be played up higher
Broad has been pretty poor last few weeks.

Cats are due for a loss so we should go into this game with confidence at the G.

I agree Bolton hasn’t done much the last few weeks but IMO we should persist with him a bit longer. His upside is huge! Get games into him and he will be worth it.
Rioli has been given many chances of the past 3 years when his form was down, but he was and should have been given a bit of latitude as his best is in front of him and everyone can see that.
Sure, we lost in the weekend but before that we were going really well considering the injuries we have and the kids we have playing.
IMO persist with the kids we know will make us a better side in years to come.
Bolton, Rioli, George, Higgins, Baker, Balta, Stack- these kids are our future.

In the Mix - Round 12

RICHMOND

Get them in: Father-son selection Patrick Naish is banging down the door for a debut, named Richmond's best in the VFL after a 28-disposal, two-goal effort, although his defensive work still needs development. Jack Graham (24, 10 tackles) continues to peg away, while Category B rookie Derek Eggmolesse-Smith is stringing some strong games together in defence. Small forward Daniel Rioli had 12 touches and seven tackles after his omission.

Under the pump: Dan Butler was relatively quiet on his return to AFL (six touches) but bobbed up to kick two goals. Dylan Grimes had an extremely rare off night but is one of the first Tigers picked every week, while Shai Bolton (10 disposals, one tackle) struggled at times.

Medical room: Midfielder Kane Lambert is at least another week, if not two, off with Achilles tendonitis.

Verdict: After being beaten comprehensively around the ball, Graham is an attractive proposition to come in for one of the smalls, with Bolton's low tackle count possibly putting him in the frame for omission.

SEN Whispers - Richmond v Geelong

Gary Ablett slots straight back in for the Cats after his suspension. Gary Rohan was very quiet against the Swans, though James Parsons could be the unlucky one to miss out.

Rhys Stanley will likely also return in place of Zac Smith if he’s ready for action after an adductor strain.

As for the Tigers, Dan Butler and Shai Bolton were quiet in the loss to North Melbourne, while Daniel Rioli, Patrick Naish and Jack Graham are all pushing for selection.

Key defender David Astbury and wingman Brandon Ellis have both been ruled out of Friday night's MCG clash against top-of-the-ladder Geelong.

Speaking to the media this morning, senior coach Damien Hardwick confirmed the two had pulled up sore from last weekend's match against North Melbourne.

He said they were both likely to miss just one week, with Astbury suffering a minor hamstring injury and Ellis a minor groin injury.

"This time of year, the fatigue factor starts to set in and bodies start to break down a bit," Hardwick said.

"We're hoping at this stage it's just the one week."

After training "incredibly well" this week, Hardwick said Daniel Rioli, who played VFL last weekend, would be considered for selection.

"What we were probably after was his workrate to get back to what we knew, and he's started to work his way back into that," Hardwick said.

"We know (high pressure) is what his best game looks like. Every now and then, players, whilst they perform, they don't quite perform to the level of expectation we have of them or they have of themselves.

"So, Daniel went back and rediscovered that part of his game. And we know when he's at his very best it certainly helps our football side win a lot of games.

"We're glad he recaptured that last week so he'll certainly come into consideration for selection tonight."

Richmond has suffered an injury blow ahead of tomorrow night's clash against Geelong with David Astbury and Brandon Ellis to miss, but Daniel Rioli is a chance to return.

Tigers' coach Damien Hardwick said today Astbury and Ellis had failed to shake off soreness after last week's loss to North Melbourne and would miss the battle against the ladder-leading Cats at the MCG.

But Hardwick was hopeful Astbury (sore hamstring) and Ellis (sore groin) would miss only the one week.

"Dave Astbury and Brandon Ellis won't play, they are out injured,'' Hardwick said.

"They are probably just one weeks at this stage. They got a little bit sore throughout the game and just haven't quite come up.

"This time of year the fatigue factor starts to set in and bodies start to break down a little bit, so we are hoping at this stage that it is just the one week."

The pair are among three to four changes that Hardwick flagged from the team that suffered a 37-point loss to the Kangaroos last week.

Hardwick said Rioli would be in the selection miss to return after his spell in the VFL last week.

"His performance at VFL level, it was OK, what we were probably after was his work rate to get back to what we knew and he started to work his way back into that,'' Hardwick said.

"He trained incredibly well this week, but once again he will be a guy that we will certainly consider for this week's game against the Cats.

"Every now and then players, whilst they perform, they don't quite perform to the level of expectation that we have of them or they have of themselves.

"So Daniel went back and rediscovered that part of his game. We know when he's at his very best it certainly helps our football side win a lot of games so we're glad he recaptured that last so he will certainly come into consideration for selection tonight."

The loss of Astbury is a blow ahead of a match-up against the Cats' in-form big forward Tom Hawkins, but Hardwick backed young Ryan Garthwaite to take on the task.

"Young Garthwaite has played on him before and did a really good job on him so we are confident that he'll be able to do the job again,'' Hardwick.

"A lot of it is based around, if he gets clean ball inside 50m he is going to be hard to stop. We know most sides if you put pressure on the ball it makes the defenders job a little bit easier so we will be certainly looking to get that part of our game back because it was not to the level that we liked last week."
