So that leaves ...

Out of contract end of 2019: Bolton, Butler, Edwards, B.Ellis, Grigg, Houli, Menadue, Miller, Moore, Naish, Soldo

Rookies:
Liam Baker - second year in 2019.
Derek Eggmolesse-Smith - second year in 2019.
Maverick Weller - first year in 2019.
Jacob Townsend - first year in 2019.
Mabior Chol - fourth year in 2019.
Jake Aarts - first year in 2019.
Sydney Stack - first year in 2019.
Out of that lot I would only keep
Bolton, Edwards, Naish, Baker, Egg, Townsend, Chol and Stack.

I just hope we are brave enough to make some big calls on a few- Bellis, Houli and Soldo.

Townsend will get the arse....Moore's injury might see him cut some slack , club obviously rated him highly enough to give him a senior spot when they could've just delisted & re-rookied him like they did Chol.....needs to be played primarliy as a defender if he remains, can't see a place for him just as a forward....Miller (presuming he's even still at club as he hasn't played since he stunk agaist North but hasn't been named in the list of injuries) hasn't exactly set the world on fire so far but his versatility and good pace for his size might save him ...all depends what our plans are regarding our KPD stocks... :shh

Are your over-30s over the hill? Who plays on, who goes

RICHMOND

Despite some injury hiccups earlier this year, Richmond is still in the premiership window and is unlikely to be looking to move on any of its senior players. Alex Rance also just falls out of this window; he will turn 30 in October.

Shane Edwards
Still in strong form and his versatility has been very important to the Tigers this year. Also showed strong leadership by captaining the club for several weeks. STAY

Shaun Grigg
Retired in May with a knee injury, allowing Richmond to take a pick into the mid-season draft. GO

Bachar Houli
Out of contract at the end of the season but is hoping to sign a new deal in the coming months. Has been in sparkling touch off half-back. STAY

Jack Riewoldt
Has had the worst injury run of his career this year but is still a vital part of the Tigers' line up for the next few years. STAY

What are they worth?

BRANDON ELLIS (RICHMOND)

Draft picks: Second-round pick (compensation)

Value on open market: $500,000-600,000 per season

Luke Dahlhaus' $2 million deal over four years should be used as the guide. If Ellis can edge over $500,000 a season and add a fifth year, the Tigers could get lucky and land an end of first-round selection.

DAN BUTLER (RICHMOND)

Draft picks: Late second-round/early third-round pick

Value on open market: $300,000-400,000 per season

Premiership player who has consistently been overlooked this year. Might be a suitor out there willing to pay him over the average AFL wage to fill a small forward role.

SHAI BOLTON (RICHMOND)

Draft picks: Mid second-round pick

Value on open market: $400,000-500,000 per season

Hitting form at the right time as he nears the end of his one-year extension. Has explosive pace and shown he can finish in the front half. The 20-year-old West Australian could be a premiership player by season's end.

Is Shai really worth 500k a year off the back of 4 or 5 solid performances.

Not saying I don’t think he’s a gun and will be, but that seems very high considering where he’s at right now.

So we pick up Shai with a mid second round pick develop him for three seasons, he is showing the form that we had hoped for and Sarah black suggests that we then trade him for the same pick that we got him for????????????????????????

Shai would be worth a mid first rounder or we keep him on a better $$$ for two years.( I prefer keep him )

Iif Treloar was worth two first rounders then Bolton with his skills & extra pace is easily worth at least one... :shh

Could get overs for Butler.....pace is in demand(could also probably get overs for Menadud for that reason alone) and he  has a premiership medal to go with it... still young as well...:shh :shh

If Bellis is worth $500k then Bolton is worth a mil.
Sometimes you pay on potential rather than current output especially if it’s a long term deal.

If he signs a 5 year contract on $500k and by the second or third year he has become one of our best players, we are getting a bargain for his remaining few years of his contract.
Pay him what it takes i say.

I would take end of first for Ellis.

Minimum early 2nd for Bolton, kid has shown plenty!

Butler mid-late 2nd.

Should consider trading Graham also.

Delist or trade:
Moore
Garthwaite
Menadue
Markov
Townsend
Weller

Need to trade in another KPD, and some bid bodied mids. Develop Ross and Miller.

Balta to play wing or midfield, Nank ruck, Chol stuff. CCJ develop.

I would be peeed off if we turfed Bolton now for sfa and livid to lose Graham.  I reckon Butler has struggled since his injury but he was better than Castanza before it so he just may need some time to get back to his best.  Graham had a shoulder as well which is a bitch to come back from, niggley bastards.

Graham should be developed as a run with player. I also consider him to be a long term Richmond player.
Stack and Bolton should have been signed by now. They are both 200 game Richmond players.

Bolton and Stack have more upside than Graham. I think Graham has peaked. Stack > Bolton > Graham as priority. Prepared to let Graham go for something worthwhile...
