I wouldn't be too quick to bring Nank back after playing a half in the VFL.  Let him gain some match hardness & some body confidence in the two's before throwing him up against opponents like Grundy.  While it would be awesome to knock the Filth out of the top four this week, we will get other chances to do that later.  I'd be happy to wait for September, get them on the G & then destroy them in front of a million viewers!     

Besides, I'm really enjoying watching Chol grow into the role!

I don't see any obvious changes, other than to say that those at the game would have a better idea on Chol needing a rest than me, who only saw the game on TV.

But I don't see Nank on half a game in the VFL as an obvious inclusion. If Chol is tired, I seriously look to bring in Balta and try to get him to run Grundy around the ground.

Caddy and McIntosh won't lose anything spending another week in the VFL.

Any chance the coaches have caddy come in to run with Brodie and somehow curtail his influence?

I ask this because of what Hardwick mentioned during the press conference although I didn’t see much of the reserves game except the first quarter where I thought  Markov looked pretty lively up forward. Nank was very hungry in that first quarter looks like he’s ready to come back in.

Can anyone shed some light on the role Caddy was playing in the reserves and is there any chance he might be used to mitigate Brodie’s influence considering our lack of “fit” rucks endurance wise?

I think we have to keep Chol to not allow Cox to easily mark the ball down the line when they need a Hail Mary exit kick out of D50. If Nank is fit he comes in for Soldo.

With a five-day break between the VFL match and Richmond's AFL clash with Collingwood, Caddy sat out the final quarter, finishing with 18 disposals and six marks in the 14-point win.

It's not the only selection quandary facing the Tigers, after Toby Nankervis made his long-awaited return from a serious adductor injury.

The club's No.1 ruckman had missed nine weeks, and so played the first half of the VFL on managed minutes.

Coming up against a powerful duo in Jonathon Ceglar and Marc Pittonet, Nankervis had 13 hitouts, eight touches, three tackles and a goal.

He moved well, but it would be a big step up from one half in the VFL to a full match against All Australian Brodie Grundy.

After a surprise omission from the seniors, Kamdyn McIntosh did not play, with an eye to the tight turnaround between the VFL and AFL.

In the AFL win over Port Adelaide, the Tigers played Jack Graham and Kane Lambert on one wing in McIntosh's absence, with Brandon Ellis holding the opposite side.

Usual half-back flanker Oleg Markov has spent the past few weeks up forward in the VFL and finished with a four-goal haul.

FULL STRENGTH TIGERS SET TO SINK CLAWS INTO PIES

Richmond could have its best 22 available for Friday night’s blockbuster against Collingwood as premiership pair Toby Nankervis and Josh Caddy loom as inclusions.

Nankervis resumed from an adductor injury in the Tigers’ VFL 14-point win against Box Hill Hawks yesterday and finished with 13 hitouts, eight disposals and a goal.

He sat out the second half and came through the run at Box Hill City Oval unscathed.

It was Nankervis’s first game since the Round 8 win against Fremantle and he could be recalled to curb the influence of Collingwood ruckman Brodie Grundy.

“From what we saw he looked like he was ready to play, particularly early,” Tigers VFL coach Craig McRae said.

“His tackle pressure and his contest … it looks like he got through the game OK.

“I know the directive was for him to play a half to give him every chance to be able to put himself up to be selected.

“It looks like he has done that part, now it’s up to others to decide if that’s the case.”

Caddy sat out the last term after collecting 18 touches in a midfield role. He was best afield in last weekend’s win over Werribee when he had 26 disposals and kicked two goals.

Caddy looks to be well over the leg injury that forced him out of the Round 16 triumph against Gold Coast.
