Richmond’s burning question: Can Dylan Grimes do the job on Charlie Cameron? The Brisbane gun broke the shackles of Jed Bews comfortably in Round 22, booting five goals to help the Lions see off the Cats in a thriller. Shutting down Cameron around goal will be important for Richmond’s hopes of bringing Brisbane back down to earth. Grimes is clearly the Tigers’ best all-round defender right now and taking the job on Cameron looms — assuming he’s fit to do so. Bachar Houli and Jayden Short both play more attacking roles, so Grimes shapes as the likely choice to mind Cameron — unless Nick Vlastuin is called upon to play that role. If Grimes is, as expected, cleared to play, this dual could be a crucial one. The last thing you want is Cameron getting a run-on.
Brisbane’s burning question: Can the Lions step up to the plate — again? The Lions have welcomed every challenge they’ve faced so far this year- at home or away. They’ve won in Adelaide, Tasmania and at Giants Stadium, to name a few, while the Gabba has once again become a fortress. But facing Richmond at the MCG in front of a hostile crowd poses a different challenge altogether. The Lions have played at the home of football just once this year, when they copped a 47-point thumping at the hands of Essendon. That’s not ideal. The Tigers are up and about and play the MCG better than anyone. If Brisbane wants to be right in the thick of things at the pointy end of the finals, this is the perfect test. A win would be huge, but a loss could be a huge learning experience for Chris Fagan’s team. Either way, this is huge.
