Why would nank be an emergency? If he was fit enough he would be named in the side.

Caddy a bit strange.

Except for the gambling idiot who is out, is that a strong Collingwood side anybody been following them?
Ignoring the perpetually injured Wells, Dunn and Ben Reid, they are missing Moore and Langdon in defence and as you say Stephenson in attack. Greenwood (hammy) is only a fringe player but they have used him in the past two meetings to tag Dusty. Aish is the only other one injured that could be argued as being in their best 22.

It's a stronger side between the arcs than they played last week against the Giants but they are still susceptible down back to big opposition marking forwards. The forecast rain probably helps them in that regard although Jack's footy smarts still makes him dangerous in wet conditions. Langdon has been a big loss for them as he is their best defensive intercept mark. Without Stephenson up forward they have looked one-dimensional in attack. They've been bombing it inside 50 which has made it easier for opposition backs to defend against. Of course, Cox hasn't been able to catch a cold since his one game wonder effort against us in last year's Prelim. Let's hope we don't again allow him straight leads into open space in front of him and free leaps at the incoming footy  ::).

The three main threats to us haven't changed though: (i) We can't have Grundy dominating with a stack of hitouts to advantage around the ground; (ii) we can't allow their mids to dominate the contests and feed easy ball to free men on the outside (Sidebottom had no one near him last time :facepalm ); (iii) we can't allow them pressure-free uncontested mark and kick possessions on transition. Last time we just fell back and allowed them to maintain freebie footy out of their back half. That was a disaster  :help.

The wet conditions are going to make it a battle of stoppages, contested footy, clearances and territory. Our mids are going to have to have good games. Last week's uber-handball gamestyle gets chucked in the bin that's for sure. K.I.S.S. principle applies in the wet - numbers at the contest and kick, hack, knock it long and direct as possible and have smalls front and square at the fall of the marking contest if Lynch, Jack or Chol don't mark it. Rince and repeat. All about winning territory and getting it forward to score more than the opposition can.

ps. I forgot the fourth threat to us - the umps looking after their B&W pets  :banghead. Is it going to be 9-26 in frees or whatever it ridiculously was again?  ::)

I'm guessing the forecast rain has saved any smalls on the edge and we're worried about Grundy so both Soldo and Chol stay in.

Yep thought that.

I think we just need to concede that Grundy is going to win to ruck and our kids need to set up to win his hit outs

I’m thinking that game we played against hawthorn in the wet when we just surged it forward at all costs. We had the rubbish finals campaign of course but iconic imagery from Newman and the lads

Tigers have Naish held over, on the off chance Cotchin had to leave. The Richmond captain just arrived. So it’s looking fairly certain Cotchin will play - his wife Brooke expecting next week @7NewsMelbourne
