Updated by Ch 7 post-game.

Freakishly, we scored 93 points in round 20 in both years so the "for" still remains identical.

The eerie stats that show Tigers are in exact same spot as in 2017

If you like omens and you’re a Richmond fan, you’re in luck.

The Tigers continue to roll towards the finals with many suggesting they should be the favourites to claim the flag, just as they did in 2017.

The funny thing is, they’re almost exactly where they were this time two years ago.

Let’s explain it in very simple terms.

Heading into Round 20 in 2017, the Tigers sat fourth on the ladder with a 12-6 win-loss record. They had scored 1556 points and allowed 1408.

Heading into Round 20 in 2019, the Tigers sat fourth on the ladder with a 12-6 win-loss record. They had scored 1556 points and allowed 1422.

In Round 20, 2017, they played a team that was about to very disappointingly miss the finals (Hawthorn) at the MCG, and won scoring 93 points.

In Round 20, 2019, they played a team that was about to very disappointingly miss the finals (Melbourne) at the MCG, and won scoring 93 points.

So after Round 20, 2017, they sat with a 13-6 record, having scored 1649 points and allowed 1472.

And after Round 20, 2019, they sit with a 13-6 record, having scored 1649 points and allowed 1482.

You may now be wondering how the Tigers did in Round 21 in 2017. Well, they lost to Geelong by 14 points - their last loss of the season, and one avenged in a qualifying final.

In Round 21 of 2019, the Tigers will face Carlton. We wouldn’t expect them to face off in a qualifying final this year... but maybe they should be a bit wary.
